The [R] rule is retarded and will not -- and will never be enforced in this forum. If someone forgets the [R] during a game THAT IS SHOWN ON TV, the moderators will edit the tread title to put the [R] there. Leave the idiotic bickering for the DC and Fire boards please.

I don't know who he is, but he has the inside scoop on lots of Metro stuff-- so we're KIDDING on the yellow card and the rest of the piss-take, right?

The taste of success is important, even in pre-season. Constant losing does not build confidence.
At some point before the season opener these guys need to know they are a team that can score, defend a lead and win. Right now they are just so many players; the team isn't there.

Start the season "born to lose" and you will.

    Do I trust Bradley?

Aside from all the mud slinging, there is something that I had mentioned in a previous post that concerns me. A laxk of goal scoring so far. If you are one of the "this is pre-season so all of this means sh!t people" then discontinue reading now. Sure we scored four against a bunch of 16 year olds - I'm not discounting that, but the level of competeition in MLS will be far different from that. We were shutout by Chicago, Dallas, and KC. Sure, we are getting a look at players, I understand that - but so are the other teams. Just wanted to get everyone's take on this and find out - are you concerned, is the midfield not getting the ball to our attackers, are the other teams just that good?

I am not really concerned. If you look at the lineups, we really haven't played a full game. With Bradely changing the team at half time, the Metros have been playing two half games one after the other. Also, with all the players on trial, the players haven't had a chance to play together yet. In Argentina Bob will decide who will stick and who will start and you will se them start to gel. Also, like someone said in a different thread (paraphrased) "It doesn't matter how you play at the beginning of the season, it matters how you play at then end." I am confident that we will play alot better at the end of the year and that our season will be light years better than last.

Cheap shot time: This is the system "scum" Rosas couldn't fit into? Why? He might have actually set up a goal or scored one himself.

What is this strange feeling coming over me? Could it really be... respect?.... for Metro fans?.... Oh wow this is a rush.

Did you actually READ why that thread called him 'scum'? No, I didn't think so.

Meanwhile, he wasn't a good fit at either one of the two worst teams in the league last year. I don't know if he's any good or not - but I'm willing to bet you haven't seen enough of him to know, either.

You are such a tool. This is the system "scum" Rosas was not good enough to play in. Why? Here's a clue for you: you think there's a coincidence that in the past 6 months he was rejected by Salamanca, Alaves, Fulham, MetroStars, and DC? Oh no, he MUST be good because he was raised at Barcelona! And because the idiots who run Spanish, English, and MLS teams -- especially MLS teams -- are such big idiots so they can't judge his quality -- and you know he is such a quality player because you saw him play exactly ZERO FUCKING times! Oh yeah, I forgot, he must be a quality player because he is not American. DUH. Why don't you go jerk off over a Mexican league game or something?

First of all, I said it was a cheap shot.

Second, I know all about the "scum" reference. This Metros-DC thing is so ridiculous it's beyond belief.

Cheap shot number two: The next time I'm jerking off over a Colo Colo game, it'll be with Jonny Walker in the nets. I guess the thought of upping with a Minor--er, I mean--Major League Soccer team was giving the guy nightmares. Too bad he may not be eligible for their Libertadores roster.

By the way, to blunt the anger which this last statement may incite, I want you all to know I am a strong advocate of MLS being included in the Copa Libertadores. I want nothing more than games that "count" between "us" and "them." Then the fur will really be flying!

My favorite thing about arguing with you is that you can't get the facts straight.

Fact #1: Walker was about to sign with MLS, but MLS low-balled him. Does anyone here not think MLS handles players like pieces of meat? But even then, did he not sign with MLS because he's "too good" for it? Pardon me while i wipe out the milk i just spilled from laughing so hard.

Fact #2: So-called "Minor" League Soccer goalies Tim Howard, Nick Rimando, Zach Thornton, and Adin Brown are heads and shoulders abouve Johnny on the national team pecking order. Oh but wait, Bruce Arena is American, so he must be a retard. I FORGOT! Bruce, call up Johnny now!

Oh, and thank Jesus that BigSoccer poster "riverplate" is a strong advocate of MLS to be included in Copa Libertadores! With this support, it's so surprising they haven't been invited yet!

Cheap shot: River Plate fans are Terrorist-supporting scum. See, I can make retarded statements based on facts I barely know anything about too. I'm so smart!

Don't forget guys, the Fire in '98 were not the leading team going into the playoffs...give Bradley some time to build the team into what it can be. Don't forget; a great coach can only do so much, the rest is up to the team. It is only preseason, you'll be ok. I am expecting the Metros to start slow but come on strong in the middle and end of the season. The level of talent you guys got with Bradley at the helm has every teams fans sweating it. It will all come together...jesus, did I just console Metros fans?

What I meant to say was "haha, you suck." :)

I'll give you that to a point. Obviously neither teams' supporters get along with each other much(nor do the teams themselves apparently); we call them 'Scum' and they call us 'Scum', etc., some of the time, if not all the time.

But to be fair, I am even more convinced that they're a bunch of sad, puny little nerds every time I see them use that idiotic 'SoS' thing in reference to the Metros (just one among their arsenal of clever acronyms, I'm told); hopefully we here don't ever get to the point where we're using such childish acronyms and pseudonyms 100% of the time for The DC United, like they're Them Whose Friggin' Name Shall Not Be Said.

No, I'm going to be Doris from Rego Park and hack up a lung for now.
I hope Bradley knows what he is doing - we'll have this all solved by May or June and make the playoffs anyway I think.

I'd rather be Joe from Saddle River and have my own show, but I digress...further digression by saying that Jerome makes me embarrassed to be a Yankee fan.

this is ridiculous, how anyone is worried about preseason results is beyone me. look at the lineups and substitutions and see if you can figure out what these games are being used for.

    everything is gonna be alright.

    Re: Re: Metros 0 - Wizards 2

I think it's getting ridiculous as well. I like when supporters of other MLS teams make their opinions known on Metro related threads. When they're wrong, let them know it. However there seems to be a certain segment of Metro bigsoccer posters that find it amusing to berate any posting regardless of content unless it's made by a Metro fan.

First of all, I'd rather score goals than not score goals, and win games rather than not win games, even if the games are pre-season exhibitions.

But if you look at who is and is not playing these games for the Metros, there is no way you can get too concerned about the shutout losses.

Moreno is hurt. Mathis is recuperating. Magee is with the U-20s (and doing pretty well, apparently). Gaven probably isn't an issue for the Metros this year, but even he is unavailable (with the U-17s). Arguably, our top four forwards are missing, so we're playing with guys just trying to make the roster as a spare part (sorry all you Gio fans out there).

Clark is supposed to have some offensive skills, but is with the U-20s.

The French guy is with us and apparently had one of the few good chances against the Wizards, but is reportedly somewhat out of shape and is surrounded by second and third stringers.

We have room for some new players and have some cap space. We're still more than a month away from the first game that counts. Relax.

If I am not mistaken, even more trialists are joining the team in Argentina.

So fat, it seems (based on what we've heard anyway) that the Scottish fellow (who'd be a Transitional Int'l) & the Frenchman are making the best impression.

I wonder whose impressing out of our draft picks.
