I'm looking for any Metrostars fans in the Baltimore area. Please reply if any exist since I would like to get together for some games (for TV or carpool).
I live in south Jersey, so if you ever want to drive this far and than hitch a ride with Tom B. and myself, feel free to contact me. thewizardofid@comcast.net
what are you doing rooting for the MetroScum then? I guess that you also root for the Cowboys too? shame shame
Kareem, that sounds like that might work but I unfortunately have no access to a car while I'm down here at school. Do you (or does anyone) know of any trains that go up that way? AtNational, do you drive up that way or to any games?
Off hand I would think that there are a few trains out of the Balt. area that would stop in Princeton, which is right down the road from us. I go to maybe 1 or two road games a year but I am taking a summer class at Rutgers this year, so I seriously doubt if I will have the time this season.
On 9/1/01 I went to the 10am US National team game in DC (3-2 loss to Hondo, ) at RFK, took the DC Metro to Union station, Acela to from DC all the way to Newark, and a cab from there to GS. Made it in 3 hours, in time for kickoff of the 4pm Metro- Fire game. Of course, we lost that one 1-0 in 100 degree temperatures after being (IIRC) up a man for something like 60 minutes. It was an interesting day, even if I was 0-2 with a minus 2 goal differential. It can be done, but it will cost you some serious coin to take the train. I think my one way was like $ 100 bucks, but that was because I took the Acela so that I could make kickoff. Not sure what a round trip on Metroliner would run you, but it would probably be close to $ 100. Plus a $ 15 cab ride to Giants Stadium- which might have been both shorter and cheaper had my cab driver a. been able to speak english b. known where he was going c. been able to understand the directions the other cab driver gave him in whatever language that was. Anyway. It can be done. You should at least try to make our two games in DC though. If you can make it as far as Newark, we might be able to hook you up with a ride.
You can take the train up from DC to (ironically enough) Metro Park. We'll be working on a ride-share board somewhere, most probably on www.empiresc.com
They're both about the same, oddly enough. You can take the Chinatown bus from DC-NY or vice versa for about $20 round trip, so there's that option. They run mostly early morning. todda74, why rag on someone who loves near you because he roots for Metro? What if he moved? If you moved to NY, would you cheer on Metro? All right then. Championships in this millenium? It's called the past, look into it. Oh, you are.
I live about an hour away from Baltimore, but this summer, I'm moving into Towson to be closer to school, so if you know anyplace to catch a game, I'll try and get out there
i know i talk too much but i'll try to be there for the season opener..i dont know if i'll catch a ride, take the train or maybe i'll end up driving to nj
I go to Towson University. I just transfered this semester, so I'm part time now while crashing with relatives in Germantown. When the semester is over, I'm looking to move closer to school so I won't have a 2 hour round trip commute.
Yeah Jacen, man, I'm at Johns Hopkins so it'd definately be easy to get together for games (even televised ones would be cool since I can't find hardly any MLS fans at school, let alone Metro fans.) Let me know. My email is jrider@jhu.edu.
