    So. Sunday night games. Yehaaa.

You can read a very good preview of the match at mlsnet.

The KC Harry Potters are missing two of their main Wizards, with Preki and Igor Simutenkov being out. MLS' second highest player in Josh Wolff rides into town on the broomstick as the only Wizard player in the top 13 of MLS scoring leaders, though Meola has been having a flashback season with 4 shutouts in 7 games and a league leading GAA of 0.57. Must be the Atkins.

KC is coming off of a 2-0 win against the Burn, Metro are coming off of 3 straight ties.

Time to get a home win. Like seriously.

    Met 3- KC 1

FYI, Jack Jewsbury is a christian. Discuss.

Judging by the enthusiasm (or lack thereof) for this match on this forum, coupled with Memorial Day weekend, I shouldn't have any trouble being one of the first 5,000 fans to get my Shrek Bottle Buddy. Wouldn't it have been better to schedule this match last night (Friday) or even midweek?

This will be my first time predicting a Metros loss, as I'm not getting good vibes for this one. I see KC escaping with a 2-1 win as the defensive miscues continue. Wolff and Zavagnin tally for the Wiz, with Guevara putting one in past Fat Tony. You'd like to think that with Simutenkov and Preki being out and with this being a home game it would be an easy 3 points, but it never quite works out that way.

On a NMR note, ESPN moved their weekly "Soccer Saturday" to tape delay at 1:30 a.m. because of......Lacrosse?!?!? As former CBS sportscaster Warner Wolf would say, "Gimme a break!".

Metros win 1-0 in a awesomely boring game.

Walker makes big save at the end.

    announded crowd of 12,000. Actual=5,000

This game just got a lot more important. DC, Chicago and Columbus all picked up 3 pt wins. Say what you will about the regular season lacking importance, I don't want to see the team fall into a hole at this point in the season. This is a game they can and should win. Now the only question seems to be how bad they want to win it. After Bradley's vocal unhappiness with last week's effort, I feel a beat down coming on. I could be totally wrong, but I wouldn't want to be a player half-assing it with coach Bradley already ticked off.

We beat sporting 3-1 midweek, we shouldn't have a problem with Meola's team.

    2-0 Metro.

We desperately need a win today. We're 2 points behind DC with a shocking 3 games in hand (who makes these schedules?). We can pass them and tie Chicago with a win, there are no excuses. Aside from missing Glen, we have no injuries, and are playing at home. They are playing on the road, without their two best scorers. No reason to come away with less than 3 points.

Well, hopefully they like almost all teams in MLS, want to play for a draw on the road. Hopefully they dont bunker in and we are able to socre on the run of play.

I will say 3-1 Metro Galvan Rey will score his first goal as a Metro. Not counting the Boavista match from this past Tuesday

The Wizards haven't been a "bunker" team since 2001. That's not to say they won't try to protect a desireable result on the road in the last 20 minutes, but there won't be a repeat of the second KC@MET game from 2000 where the injury riddled Wizards came in and grinded out a 100 minute 0-0 tie.

This, unfortunately, is a familiar strain, and they haven't gotten the job done. But yes, this is a MUST win for the Metros

No score at the half. The Metros as always sleep-walked through the first half hour, then woke up for the last 15 minutes. They moved the ball well, but the last pass just hasn't been there.

Woly and Galvan Ray were the starting forward pair. Neither was dangerous, so I'd expect to see Taylor and/or Magee by about the hour mark.

Also, Gaven cut his ridiculous hair.

Looks like one bench slot was left empty. Bradley and Glenn at international duty. Bonseu and Digi? Looks like Digi is cut, not sure why Bonseu is absent (?injured).

His hair looked fine. Why would you care? As long as he keeps improving he can wear his hair any way he wants.

    What are you, his mother?

1-0, good win from the Metros. Smart, quick free-kick from Guevara, beautiful flick-on by Gaven and nicely done from Woly to clean up the mess. This game was always going to be ugly as KC refuses to play any other way, so it was a real test for us to see if we could grind out a win. I'm pleasantly surprised that we could.

Nice game from Walker as well. MotM honors could be evenly split between him, Pope (who played his best game of the year in a Metro shirt), Guevara and Woly.

On a down note, Galvan Rey once again did himself no favors with either the fans or, probably, Bob. He's got to bury at least one of those chances. I suspect he'll be back on the bench next week.

Nice 15 minutes from Rico Clark as well. Hopefully he can rebuild his confidence and find a way to be effective once again.

He could use a trim as well. Is it okay if I say that? Since he doesn't appear to be improving.

[R] The defense was very good tonight. Metro had great posession all match long, just couldn't take any quality or any shots at all in the first half. Wonderful goal by Woly with that short diving header inside the far post. It wouldn't be a Woly Goal without him diving in some form of manner.

Jeff Park once again showing us all why he deserves to be in the starting line up. Pope looked great as well. Spectacular defender and that one shot that the Wizards took great save off of Walker's wickets. That could have been a one nil Wizards lead if not for Walker on that save.

Sad part about Galvan Rey is this. He can't communicate out there with them and sadly enough no one communicated with him either. He did make a good run here and there but just couldn't pull the trigger at all.

I will have to give Kansas City some credit. They allowed Metro to go down the flanks, but once there was a play inside the middle of the field the boys were shut down. Someone was either double teammed or triple teammed and Metro just couldn't make an extra pass at the same time they never came to the aid of their teammates.

A good hard fought match, you felt that one goal was going to be the difference maker and thankfully Woly's goal was.

Why can't he communicate, is he a mute?

He had a clear shot on goal and just rolled it passed
