I can't claim to have expectations one way or another. We could get smoked 3-0, we could play another dire tie, or we could whip up on a team that's got to be fatigued (fifth game in 14 days).

If Lisi's back, I'd like to see him start deep in the midfield alongside Clark, with Gaven and Guevara as the attacking mids in a box-4. I have no idea who to start at forward - most of our guys seem to suck. On defense I want Stammler on the right and Leitch on the left with Ziadie carrying the orange slices.

IMHO this is the most important game of the year for us thus far. It gives us a chance to 1) get the Chicago monkey off our back and 2) set the tone going into the All-Star break.

We might win this week, but i have no real reason to be optimistic. This team is a bit of an underachiever. I am looking for another tie...

ESC Make Your Own Banner DAY- JULY 24
NOON TO 6:30PM / Metrostars vs. Chicago 7:30PM

Hang with the Metro faithful as we dress up the section with banners, flags, etc.

Metro host Chicago at 7:30pm, the ESC will gather at noon in lot 16A to paint some banners, make some flags and grill some food. Bring Paint, banners, cloth, sheets, brushes...whatever you have. Most importantly, bring yourself and a couple of ideas. Always wanted to do a Soprano's Banner of "Bob's Mob"? Now is your chance. Please RSVP by replying to empiresc@verizon.net if you are interested.

    COLOMBIAN HERITAGE DAY
The MetroStars will be hosting a Colombian Heritage Day this Saturday at Giants Stadium. The event will celebrate Colombian culture and include a series of activities throughout the day. Prior to the MetroStars game against the Chicago Fire at 7:30 p.m., a free Colombian festival will take place outside of Giants Stadium. The festival will include live Colombian entertainment from some of the area's top local talent, and authentic Colombian food, provided by some of the area's top Colombian restaurants. The festival will begin at 4 p.m. and end just before the MetroStars kickoff.

This is the first-ever Colombian Heritage Day with the MetroStars. The MetroStars began their heritage series last season. This is the fourth part of eight events this year - the MetroStars hosted a Greek Heritage Day last Saturday and have already held Mexican (May 15) and Portuguese days. They will host four other events, including Colombian (July 24), Caribbean/Guatemalan (August 8), Ecuadorian (August 15) and Hispanic (September 11) days.

What about an ex-pat heritage day?

Depends which Ziadie shows up (he's hurting anyway so he might not be available). As for Stammler, has anyone even seen him play? I guess we'll see if Bob was impressed with his performance against Charleston. It does seem like Regan is ahead of him in the pecking order.

It's gonna be tough, tight and a rough match. I have faith that the boys are finally gonna pull a win against Chicago. No Razov, no more Beasley. I feel this is the match that the boys end the losing streak.

2-1 Metro. Guevara & F.T. will score the goals.

Clark being on the team is doubtful for Saturday.:D

Anyone feel like going to Newark Airport? You can hang with Szetela tonight as he sits in Terminal B with his cell phone, waiting for a call before the last flight to Columbus leaves at 6pm.

the guys in Solo Futbol said he could play but they don't want to rush things not to worsen the injury.

Dave Sarachan will be returning $500 short due to his diatribe last week: :D

Craig Ziadie is listed as out for the Fire with an LCL sprain. Will Guevara return from his ankle sprain?

With Razov still out and Beasley gone, the Metros should win (on paper at least). I thought the Metros dominated the action last week. If they can actually finish their plays, I'm predicting a 2-1 Metros win.

Lisi has had chronic ankle problems since joining the Metro and maybe even before that.

He's missed a substantial part of every season he's been here.

He should have thought of that before playing the second half against San Jose on the bum wheel. I appreciate what he did the second half of last year on a torn tendon, but in the middle of the season there's no sense in being a hero. I doubt the injury would have been so serious if he'd just packed it in at halftime (when the score was 1-1 and both goals were due, in large part, to him).

    METROS WIN!!!!!!! METROS WIN!!!!!!!!

    Metros - 2
    Fire - 1

    CHI - Armas 23'
    MET - Guevara PK 44'
    MET - Wolyneic 57'

I thought Bonseu played real well
Walker had his best game in a while from an aggressivness standpoint
Metros got very lucky on that PK no-call

Our D continues to commit vaporlock on too regular of a basis. We gifted them one - it could have been three or four.

Good win. Caught a break on the non-PK call with Andy Williams, but Metro played better anyway. A few bad giveaways in rough spots though. Nervous nervous. Glen and Woly have the worst 1st touches in all of MLS, I think. Great goal by Woly though. Wish ANY of our other fwd's could put the ball on frame. I like Bonseu out wide, except for that last bad clearance in the closing minutes. Guevara is league MVP.

bonseu is not a great outside fullback, yet positionally and defensively he gets the job done well, but when you play out there you're expected to make a few good efficient surging runs forward that cause the other team some danger, which he didnt. At any rate I very much liked the way he played, I prefer a defensive-minded full back than a sluggish attack minded ball away giving one...
Good win overall, we got lucky in that no pk call with williams. Those calls even out in the season, anyway. Woly worked his ass off, so did Glen, but I liked Poly Woly a lot more...Vaca busted his butt off today, I liked him a lot, Pope played well, Parke was physical as always. Leitch was solid, Guevara plays in a league of his own--simply great...

I think right now Guevara is on the Mathis'(the good years) and Howard's level.

Thank god. We've gotten jobbed pretty bad up until recently. The Ching touchdown and the handball call on Parke come immediately to mind.
