Hmmm... for some reason I find that hard to believe...

 

Question: Do transitional-internationals count against the 18 full roster spots or are they considered protected?

 

There is MLS league-wide limit to the number of TI's, but otherwise TI's are treated like Americans: you can have as many as you want on the roster, some are designated developmental/protected (like Flores) and some are not (like Glen).

 

Seems like we are approaching the league limit just by ourselves. How are we going to play all these midfielders and forwards we have is my question. We need a 2 -5-3 allignment and will still have 4 or 5 extra mids and forwards on the roster each game. A lot of offensive talent and youth on this team.

 

The more the merrier. I would be best having more players when you enter other tournaments. US Open Cup will be a start.

 

Some of the guys at the lower end of the roster will also get playing time with the Roughriders. Three players can be allocated to the Roughriders for each of their games to get playing time/experience.

I think this is going to be huge over time...we start with 3 roster spots this year...whats to say we don't expand that next season....Looking at the roster who are the likely players to get time with the Roughriders...clearly at least one forward will have to spend time there, who else?

 

i'm not sure if i even want this season to start, hahah...i have a huge f'n smile on my face just thinking about it...then i remember we're probably fielding a vanilla roster for columbus...luckily we have 2 weeks before the home opener...if we can leave with any points, we should be satisfied, regardless of how bad columbus looks right now..

 

The lack of accusatory claims of league favoritism for Metros (by supporters of the other teams is in the league) is strangely odd. If these guys start lighting it up we'll definitely hear it. This weeks game is basically the same squad from last year with Vaca added into the attack. Can't wait to play D.C. & Chicago to see what we really got.

 

there's a thread about this on the SJ boards titled "San Jose and Foreign Players"...i responded, but basically, the days of MLS trying to favor us are long gone, and it is going to be obnoxious to hear $hit..

 

It could be the first step into making A-League teams true "farm systems" for MLS. Or it could just be a place holder for the holy grail of real youth development programs for every MLS team.

The guy may play like Pele for all I know but I kind of doubt his club would have let him go if he does.

 

well, for what it's worth, Bob brought in several trialists over the course of the offseason and didnt hesitate to send them home packing if he didnt like him, you'd have to think this kid is at least somewhat worthwhile just based on that alone..

 

I hear bob is trying to swap Lisi for Milton Reyes with Dallas. They also get one of our imaginary draft picks as a bonus.

Will that do it?
