Metapan (2011 Apertura Champion), Aguila (2012 Clausura Champion) and Fas (best aggregate team behind Metapan) will represent El Salvador at the next CCL. The format is a little different next edition. There is no knockout round the teams will be put into groups of 3 where the top team advances. Metapan will be in pot B while Aguila and Fas will be in pot C.

Fas will be playing in the Copa Mesoamericana July 5th and 7th alongside Marquense (Guate), Perez Zeldon (Costa Rica) and Chiapas (Mexico)

Aguila is trying to secure some friendlies in the USA against Barcelona (Ecuador) to be played in New York. They are also trying to secure friendlies against Olympia (Honduras) to be played in San Francisco as well as potentially against Morelia (Mexico) and Monterrey(Mexico). Nothing is official yet.

Fas has been renovating el Oscar Quiteno in hopes of hosting their CCL games. Metapan has also made improvements to el Calero Suarez.

Any of those friendlies would be great. Also el cusca is undergoing some renovations as well but what it really needs is a complete renovation of the entire stadium!

Looks like Metapan got eh more favourable group, while Aguila have the toughest group out of the salvadoran teams.
FAS has a good chance of getting out on their group but all depends on if they can steal points away from home

I expect every single one of our clubs to win the full 3 points in the first round. Both Aguila and FAS at home is a huge advantage for them, unless I'm mistaken. And Metapan has the given advantage of a weaker opponent. If we dont see the results in the first round, I'll be worried and they will most likely crash out of the tournament.

Does anyone know who Metapan has left at the striker position now with Bautista & Lester gone and Da Silva has been discarded from the club.

They have Nicolas Munoz and they also signed an Uruguayan named Jorge Ramirez. Shawn Martin has also played forward before and they might need to use him there this season if they don't sign some strikers

Someone post the rosters of our 3 champions league teams. My prediction is Metapan will do best, Fas second best and Aguila crashes out.

Aguila is going to be in for a rude awakening. They had a terrible offseason and have easily been the worse at preparing for the season. While Metapan and Fas are going to take on decent clubs in Guatemala Aguila will be playing Real Esteli (Nicaragua) in San Miguel. They think because they did things badly last season and still won the championship it doesn't matter what they do and it will all work itself out their games against Santos could be especially embarrassing.

I have to admit though I could see this going badly for all 3 clubs because none of them improved defensively. I was hoping after the embarrassment that Metapan suffered last time they would focus on getting stronger in the back but they actually look weaker with Escobar out for the season. I predict Fas will look the best Aguila the worst. The good thing is that participating in this has made Fas and Metapan improve their stadiums and their infrastructure. There was a time our league was easily among the worst in Central America now you could argue its the 3rd best in terms of level of play and a team like Metapan can compete with any team in Central America

Fas lost earlier today 0-2 to Marquense (Guate).

Metapan is up 2-1 over Comunicaciones (Guate). Metapan looks like they could have a decent attack but the midfield is doing a poor job of holding possession. Mondragon and Aquino both look shaky. The new signing Jorge Ramirez looks pretty terrible.

Aguila is in even worse shape then I thought they are currently tied 1-1 against Real Esteli (Nicaragua)

    Aguila ties Esteli 1-1

Metapan loses 2-4 both Mondragon and Hernandez looked terrible in goal. Portillo subed out Mondragon because he let in 2 goals that any goalie with some height or ability to jump could have dealt with. Hernandez was completely lost and was ejected with a red card toward the end of the game. Aquino continued to look awful in the 2nd half.

I am not sure why Metapan thought Jorge Ramirez was a good signing but he could not have looked worse tonight. Its a much weaker team then last year and Portillo won't have many options to experiment with its going to be a rough season for Metapan

Fas defeats Suchitepequez (Guate) 3-0. They looked decent Larin was ejected after two yellows he still has to work on staying out of trouble. Fas will miss Ulloa if he does leave though

Fas and Metapan had their last friendlies before the season

Metapan beat Titan of the 2nd division 4-1

Fas tied Juventud Escuintleca 1-1 but they had guys get ejected from the game yet again that is something they are going to have to work on
