I think some Bundesliga clubs could get him if they move early, especially if Marin becomes unhappy at the club.

Yeah I mean marin is still 19 and i'd be making bundesliga clubs the favourites to get him until he's about 24

...and the joke continues where we talk about a different guy to the thread player :D

3.5 mill, which is not bad considering how he is turning out.

Did Özil actually play well on the whole in these recent games or did he just get goals and assists? I haven't seen him properly this season except in the second half of the match against Schalke when I thought he didn't deserve some of the praise he was getting.

Btw, we could have a goalkeeper thread, a defence thread, one on the midfield and one for strikers again rather than launching a new round of 30 individual player threads...

"just getting goals and assists", thats a nice "just". :p
He really played well on the whole and the goals/assists only show that he gets more and more effective in his play.
A similar develop like Marin had in the 2nd half of last season.

With a young player, if you look at Marin and Kroos for example, that "just" would refer to whether apart from the odd genius move the player is already involved over 90 minutes in gradual build-up play as well as in winning possession back...presence.

From the Bremen games I've seen this season aside from scoring or setting up goals he was involved consistently throughout. I know what you mean about players being praised too quickly for the odd move here and there. Fortunately Ozil doesn't fit into that category.

It's definitely been raised to 7 million then. It could potentially raise to 10-15m by the end of the season if he keeps it up, more realistically 10m.

I also get what Project means, but Ozil gets involved throughout the whole game. The goals and assists are just a bonus to his overall game. Unlike others who score and assist and then comes how they play.

Özil's development in Bremen is amazing!

Unbelieveable cross. Pinpoint accuracy. Pure skill and football brains.

Watching this kid is something special.

I've seen more in Ozil's game in these last few weeks than in Podolski's game since 2005. He'll be ten times the player Podolski will be.

I really find it hard guessing why did Schalke get rid of him? They could have a fantastic midfield with Ozil.

    Money.

Özil's manager and father wanted a lot more money and a garantee to start if I recall correctly. And back then he was not proven at all.
They kept saying that a lot of big clubs in the CL wanted to get him and if Schalke didn't agree to his demands he wouldn't resign.

No big club emerged but after all that happenend he didn't want to stay at Schalke (pride etc) so he went to Werder even though they surely didn't offer him the money Özil and his manager wanted from Schalke.

there were big clubs interested like ManU but Özil picked Bremen.

Also im curious how you want to know that Bremen didnt offer him the money he wanted from Schalke (his "demands" were nothing stellar).

Overall its the same old story that talents in germany dont get a lot of respect at their clubs.

I hope Kroos does a similar move in the winter break.

Very true. Sadly that is, even at a club like Bremen where a player like Hunt was questioned over long periods of his career so far, for example, despite playing really well.
