Re: Y'all got Ryan back... The man does have a massive ego. Any chance he can get he is posing with the MLS Cup trophy. Like he had a hand in winning it. He's a good guy though. Yeah, y'all ended up returning in the Mets' 3rd jerseys made for Sundays and holidays. Its amazing ever time I hear this feedback on anyone's FO...I mean what the heck do we know?!? The 2001 kit for y'all were choice. That's what the new FO should have returned with, no second thoughts.
Wasn't it Oliver Luck the Oilers QB who Ken Stabler said he couldn't stand the smell of milkshakes on his breath or was the Gifford Nielson?
Jeez, talk about jaring the old memory banks....yeah that had to have been concerning Giff Nielson. He is of the LDS Church and that dig would fit the comments made. But I was an insane Oiler supporter and I have zero recollection of one Oliver Luck as QB for my team. Pastorini yes, Earl of course but no Luck. Ha. Didn't mean that. btw Dom's comments last night on FFF after being asked by the guys, "what is his most memorable MLS moment?" Dom's answer was a nod to San Jose and not Houston's recent success. He spoke very nicely of the incredible comeback we all remember, save LAGs, being down 4-0 on agg and the team finding a way to win.
Afterall Dom is from here.......Paul Bravo told me in 1996 that Dom didn't want to go to San Jose (as a player ) and chose Colorado instead just because he just wanted to get out of this area. Ironically , the next year Laurie Calloway traded Bravo for Dom and he came back to San Jose. Then he came back in 2001 as an assitant coach. I think he could have still played on (at that time) if he wanted to I saw Dante Pastorini at Oak Hill Memorial...his dad Dante Sr. is buried right next to my grandfather...lol! As for Oliver Luck , he played in the early 80's for the Oilers...... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LuckOl00.htm
That's actually really cool for me to hear Falvo. Ol' Pastorini was a "walk on water" type of character for me and my buddies back in the day. I mean we were lil' guys back then but he meant a lot to us. Si lo se, I just bust his chops now and then when we have lunch downtown over the fact that I was an Oiler die hard and I don't remember him playing that much. Oh and there is this gem if anyone out there in Quake land really wants to send something to Dom.
I spoke to Dom before World Cup match played at Stanford Stadium in 1994 he was still pretty bitter about being left off of the national team for the WC...he underwent an emergency apendectomy and couldn't really get his form back in time to make the final cut. He played for Necaxa the next year so that was good for him...
