I thought there was a small window when he first signed with Reading where I felt he was overlooked but yeah i feel he is one where his ability compared to some of his counterparts was overstated. I think people also were trying too hard to project him as the next Jermaine Jones
What else is he going to do? Even in theory he can't play for anyone until July 1st, and nobody would sign him to help them finish the season unless they knew he was 100% physically fit and ready to train. Even then there'd be better options in the shape of just-out-of-contract players who've got a few games under their belts. If he plans on playing on he's much better off chilling until pre-season and he can link up with a club where everyone's going to be in the same boat.
I don't believe that FIFA or UEFA opened up another transfer window after the pause, so only players who were free agents when the last transfer window closed would be eligible to sign short term.
Based on his Instagram, and lack of any signing news, should we assume Danny has retired? If so, I wish he would have had more chances for the USMNT, stayed healthy, and had the chance to play in a World Cup. At his peak (2016-18), he was right there behind Jermaine Jones as a DM. Just got injured at the wrong times. Could have a future as a coach if he's interested. https://www.instagram.com/chilliams23/?hl=en
Danny discusses his fashion work in this (German) article: Fußballer Danny Williams im Interview über sein Modelabel Beautiful Struggles https://www.instyle.de/instyle-men/fussballer-danny-williams-interview-modelabel-beautiful-struggles
When a 32 year-old hasn't played for 12 months, it's safe to say that he's retired. Good luck to him in future career, but he's done as a player.
He jumped into fashion pretty readily. I always felt like he had the most to gain from big time American exposure. Handsome, debonair guy who would've looked at home on all kinds of magazine covers. Pretty cool how so many soccer guys rep his clothing now too. What a nice niche market to sell and to and use for marketing.
His clothing is hard. Not all of it is my style, but it’s all quality. Happy for him, pursuing his dream in this next phase.
This says more about me than anything else but your post reminded me of this guy: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/veit-couturier-at-sv-weil.877994/
From his Insta feed it looks like he is killing it. He has been in fashion for a while now. A whole bunch of players post wearing his clothes. Weston did the other day.
If the fashion business doesn't work out - the transition from successful start-up to stable niche player is gruelling - he'll still land on his feet. The business skills he has acquired/will acquire will be applicable in multiple sectors and his contacts book is evidently something else. He'll do fine in retirement.
