Terms for the loan operations of the players who arrived from MLS:

    Esequiel Barco — 2 year loan, with a buyout clause for 50% (+/- $8M)

    Tomas Pochettino
    — 1 year loan ($600,000 fee); $5.5M buyout clause in June, $6M buyout clause in December. There is supposedly also an agreement for lower fees if the club seeks to acquire only 50%.

Leandro Gonzalez Pirez — 2 year loan ($1.8M fee), with a $2M buyout clause (the loan fee would be deducted, meaning the club would only have to put down $200,000 to keep him)

    ————————

Elias Gomez’s move was confirmed to have cost the club only $1.5M for 70% of the transfer. Seems like an excellent deal for a player who had been putting in great performances for a while now. He has signed with River until 2025.

    ————————

Nacional (URU) and Cruzeiro are currently negotiating for Carlos Auzqui.

Platense have consulted over a possible loan deal with Cristian Ferreira, although it will depend almost exclusively on the player whether or not it goes through. He is also being offered on loan to San Lorenzo as part of the negotiations for Andres Herrera.

Talleres has made a move for Federico Girotti, seeking to buy 50% of the forward's transfer (or otherwise secure him on loan). The ball is now in the player's court, as River is open to selling him to the Cordoban team; Girotti has stated he'd prefer a European move, but we'll see how he deals with an absence of such offers and the increased competition for playing time in his position at River.

They are saying $2M for 50%, with Talleres finalizing details on a 3 year contract with the promising forward.

Shame, I would have much rather negotiated a loan, with a higher potential buyout clause if anything.

Girotti always did his thing, it’s sad that he’s probably going to explode in another Argentine team instead. It feels like Facu Medina and David Martinez all over again. Plus, with Julian leaving in a few months, and Braian Romero being very inconsistent (he’s good, but at times he seems like he should be playing in Almirante Brown), he could have very well earned a spot in the near future.

Oh well, I guess now it’s time to place all bets on Londoño as the forward of the future.

I think that Girotti's biggest problem is that he really only has a single tool in his toolbox, and it's a tool that Gallardo doesn't seem to value highly enough for it to justify betting on him long term. He's a decent (not great either) poacher, but Muñe's system clearly doesn't value poaching in and of itself, and Girotti just doesn't do enough besides that to stand out.

Also, selling Girotti for 2M and 50% of a future sale is an absolutely amazing deal compared to some other (even recent) examples. That's a 4 million valuation for a player that is only River's 4th pick striker (and only because of injuries to other forwards).

Depends how you look at it. We had already rejected an offer from Torino years ago before he was even a first team player that was worth ~4M... that was before he was the somewhat experienced player he is today, with titles under his name and several goals (including one no less than in a superclasico). Wouldn’t it be logical that his value would have increased a bit since he was just a reserves player?

Not saying to ask for $20M, but I would have attempted to negotiate a loan with possibly a buyout clause worth $5-6M for the same percentage (if he flops, you could always negotiate a lower fee).

Plus you already know that if we ever want one of their players they want like $12M for the move.. why do we always do them favors? We’re giving them a great forward for practically the same price we pay for loans. Any random mediocre player is worth 2M nowadays.

I'm not surprised his value has stagnated, he has also stagnated as a footballer. If he suddenly blows up at Talleres and that value balloons again, at least River has secured half of any future transfer fee, but I don't see that happening - I think bouncing around among the 2nd-rung of the Primera teams is more likely for him to be completely honest.

I would wager that the board chose cash now with a cut of a future sale over a loan with a buyout clause because of how difficult it has been to get clubs to actually use those clauses (Auzqui just spent a year at Talleres with a lower buyout clause for example).

River pays a premium that other clubs (except for arguably Boca) simply don't, it's the price of being top dog. Honestly I don't think Girotti would sell for ~$4m value if he were going from, say, San Lorenzo to Talleres either.

Flamengo are in contact with Fabrizio Angileri... there’s a possibility that they could give River a small compensation for the move, but it wouldn’t he significant since he’s set to be a free agent in just 5 months.

Personally, I’d just keep until July rather than reinforcing a direct rival in the Libertadores if we’re just going to get pennies, but it looks like the transfer could very well happen

    Reinforcement #7 is in:

23-year-old RB Andres Herrera will be joining River from San Lorenzo for $3.2M for 70% of the transfer

    https://www.ole.com.ar/river-plate/herrera-san-lorenzo-river_0_odDJ0ylFao.html

This pretty much paves the path for Alex Vigo to go on loan to Independiente, which imo is a great bonus as it’ll allow the former Colon defender to gain valuable minutes and hopefully return as a more consolidated option for the right flank.

Huge if true: Carrascal is heading to CSK Moscow. He'll finally live in the frigid environment his poor heart was made for!

Jokes aside, this would be a great sale, considering the abundance of players in his position and the sad truth that the "Colombian Neymar" never lived up to his promise. I wish him well, but I'm still genuinely happy to hear he's being sold now. This may be the best transfer window for River I can remember.

Besides recent reports of Real Madrid closely tracking Enzo Fernandez, now Xavi and Barcelona are said to be keeping a close eye on Santi Simon.

I’m absolutely loving our current team... I’m just hoping we get to keep this squad til at least of the end of the year: it would be a shame to lose Julian, Simon, Enzo, and maybe DLC (I’m assuming they will try to negotiate him in June since his contract expires at the end of the year) mid-year right when the real copa is finally set to begin.

@SupaMario what can you tell me about Lucas Blondel... apparently Gallardo is keeping an eye on him. No offer yet, but they are tracking him as a possible future reinforcement.

    ------

On a side note, it appears Leverkusen are looking to get rid of Lucas Alario. With the WC coming up and Julian likely leaving in June, there's a possibility River will make a move to reincorporate him. Would be great...

I’m pretty big on him. He was a big reason why we ascended back to the top flight. He has not missed a beat since promotion. He defends well and is not afraid to attack. Moreover, he’s got decent vision and links up very nicely with the attack. He could easily play with three in the back or four, therefore, he’s got decent speed, so not many attackers will be able to blow past him. Comfortable with both right and left foot(As you probably saw v his goal v Godoy Cruz). I’d personally like to hold onto him but it is not surprising clubs have come knocking for him.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. I don't think we have anyone at Alario's level (beyond Julían who'll be gone by then), and he's younger than both Suarez and Romero to boot. It would also honestly be a great opportunity for him to "redeem" himself after his unceremonious exit IMHO.

Jorge Carrascal's transfer to CSKA Moscow officialized (up til now he was only there on loan)

Terms of the deal (potential €8M transfer):

    - €3M for 50% of the transfer
    - An additional €3M to be payed next year for another 30%
    - Additional €2M bonus/penalty fee if the player isn't transferred to another club within the next two years

River had also previously received €300,000 payment as a loan fee.

    Mid-year transfer news:

    - Lucas Beltran set to return early from his loan with Colon, which was originally due to expire at the end of the year. During his spell in Santa Fe he played 38 games and scored 6 goals (including one against Boca).

The only thing to resolve is a minor contractual difference with Colon. River wants to count with him starting this week (our first game of the league is on Sunday), although the early loan termination clause legally stated he could return on July 1st upon River's request. If Colon isn't willing to do the logical thing and let him return now, he would miss the first 5 games of the tournament (which wouldn't be a huge deal since we'll still have Julian til then, but it would be good to allow him to begin settling in with the team).
    - River has been tracking 27-year-old midfielder Domingo Blanco for some time now and have been in contact with his agent since his deal with Independiente is set to expire next month. However, at the moment the former Defensa y Justicia man would be prioritizing offers from abroad (assuming they arrive).

    - 25-year-old midfielder Juan Brunetta will be concluding his two-year loan with Parma, who have decided not to execute the buyout clause. Gallardo has been tracking him for years, and his arrival may now be more realistic than ever with the concrete possibility of De La Cruz leaving in the near future. However, River have yet to make an offer for the former Belgrano midfielder, who has already received a proposal from Santos Laguna and is also being tracked by Cruz Azul and Racing.

Speaking of Nicolas De La Cruz, there is a firm interest from Fenerbache and Atletico Mineiro for the Uruguayan. With only six months remaining on his contract, there are sure to be several other offers arriving in the coming weeks.

    - Enzo Fernandez has been linked with pretty much every European club, although Benfica have been the ones that seem to be stepping most heavily on the gas pedal. River's idea is to hold on to him til at least the end of the year, although if the buyout clause (€20M) is executed there is nothing the club can do. Unfortunately, with the Portuguese side expected to sell Darwin Nunez during this transfer window, they'll have plenty of cash to splurge. His continuity in River will in large part likely depend on his personal will to stay a little bit longer.

    - Reserves captain Nahuel Casasola is negotiating a loan deal with Platense. The 20-year-old would be following in the steps of other midfielder youngsters who left on loan to gain experience, like Enzo Fernandez, Tomas Galvan, and Tomas Castro Ponce.

    - Promising reserves Colombian center forward Flabian Londoño Bedoya could leave on loan to Defensa y Justicia, who have pretty much become our fillial at this point.

    - Benjamin Rollheiser will be joining Estudiantes as a free agent.

    - River is in search of a reinforcement for the frontline due to Julian Alvarez's upcoming departure ( :( ), and once again Nahuel Bustos (Girona; former Talleres) appears as one of the targets. It could play in River's favor that the 23-year-old's transfer rights are owned by City Group.

The club had also previously inquired over Miguel Angel Borja's transfer conditions, although the Colombian international publicly stated that he didn't have intentions of leaving Junior. Their consequent elimination from the Copa Sudamericana could possibly change things, but at the moment it doesn't seem like negotiation will move forward.

21-year-old Jose Manuel Lopez is a player that seems to be of interest to Gallardo, although Lanus are asking for $12M for the move. River will attempt to negotiate for a percentage of the transfer for a smaller fee and possibly include a player or two as part of the negotiations, but in no way will they pay the full fee requested by el granate.

Diego Valoyes also appears on the radar, with an estimated $6M fee required to snatch him. Fassi (Talleres's president) admitted that River previously did inquire about his transfer conditions in April, although there has been no formal movements in the recent weeks.

19-year-old Uruguayan prospect Matias Arezo (Granada) has been offered by Paco Casal. At the moment it is just a proposal, with Gallardo's seal of approval pending.

    - Brito is also having talks with veteran players like Nicolas Otamendi and Roberto Pereyra to add some experience to the squad. In the case of the NT centerback, it is likely he'll join River in 2023 following the WC. Tucu, on the other hand, is entering the final year of his contract with Udinese and is initially willing to hold talks.

According to LPM, a verbal agreement has been reached for the incoming transfer of Miguel Angel Borja

River will pay Junior $5M for 50% of the transfer rights of the 29-year-old Colombian international

Assuming no last minute complications arise, Borja will be reuniting with Armani, with whom he was key alongside in Atletico Nacional’s 2016 Copa Libertadores title.

    ——

Negotiations for Diego Valoyes are also still ongoing, with Talleres now demanding the loan of Felipe Peña Biafore as part of payment (as well as the remaining 45% of Girotti’s transfer rights that River preserves + give or take $4M) after River refused to include Agustin Palavecino (who the Cordobeses had originally requested) in the negotiations.

Besides Benfica, Enzo Fernandez is now also being linked to Wolverhampton, who have sent representatives to Buenos Aires to begin formal negotiations.

For what it's worth, AC Milan are also chasing the 21-year-old midfielder

An initial agreement has been reached with Benfica over Enzo Fernandez's transfer:

€18M for 75% of the transfer, with the player likely to stay on loan with River until the end of the year

Not bad, considering how we'd conserve 25% of a future transfer and Benfica is known for making high-profile transfers to other European clubs. Much better than just receiving €20M for the full transfer, as his release clause would have permitted. Only difference is that with the release clause we would have received a lump sum now, whereas the current operation would be made in installments. But this is a better deal in the long run..

Shame he lasted so little in the club.. lets hope he gets to at least complete the Libertadores (as is being speculated) and hopefully he can leave to Europe with that title under his belt.

Side note, unfortunately we will have to give Defensa y Justicia 10% of the transfer fee, as was agreed when we terminated his loan with him 6 months early (unbelievable, we gave them a baller for free on loan and to top it off have to pay them €1.8M, but those were the terms)

The E. Fernández deal is a bit of a disappointment, but better than the worst options that could have happened; he'll stick around at least until the end of this Libertadores campaign, and here's hoping that the cash influx from this deal gives the club some room to maneuver financially and (maybe) secure Julian's stay until the end of the Libertadores too.

Miguel Angel Borja deal now on standby after Palmeiras put some roadblocks for their 50% of the Colombian forward's transfer. River extended the offer by an additional million, but the response was once again negative. This may push River to pursue Matias Arezo and/or Nahuel Bustos with more strength.

Cristian Ferreira appears headed on loan to Newell's. Minor details are yet to be agreed on, such as whether the deal will last 12 or 18 months.

Tomas Lecanda, who returned early from a failed loan stint with Barracas Central, is negotiating a loan with Aldosivi.

Tomas Castro Ponce is also seeking to terminate his loan with Godoy Cruz and seek a new destination.

Meanwhile, River appears to have reached a deal with 31-year-old Colon midfielder Rodrigo Aliendro on a free transfer. The player is seeking to be released from his deal (which expires in one week) in order too be able to be registered for the Libertadores roster, although at the moment it's looking unlikely. If he ends up playing in Colon's Round of 16 match vs. Talleres on Wednesday, he will be ineligible to play for River the entire tournament.
