Apparently San Lorenzo are trying to snatch Colombian/Venezuelan defender Thomas Gutierrez from us on a free transfer

The 21-year-old has been offered a contract by River but isn’t convinced by the numbers... he also knows in CASLA he’d have more chances of playing soon.

Watch... we let him go and then next year we’ll be trying to buy him back for $8M

Ole is linking Julian Alvarez to Ajax and Aston Villa..

    https://www.ole.com.ar/river-plate/julian-alvarez-aston-villa-ajax-oferta_0_hmJfVrkDD.html

Not surprising, considering how both clubs have been betting on Argentines reinforcements lately (Ajax with Lisandro Martinez, Tagliafico, Magallan; Villa with Emi Martinez and Buendia)

Fabrizio Angileri's agent admits he's holding talks with foreign clubs, despite Angileri's recent claims that he wants to stay in River:

"Las charlas por Angileri son reales. Un detalle que no es menor es que Fabrizio es comunitario, tiene ciudadanía italiana y eso en el ambiente se sabe"
Angileri only has one year remaining on his contract (June 2022), so if he stays past this transfer window D'Onofrio must begin accelerating the negotiations for a contract renewal. Perhaps his agents comments are simply a negotiation tactic, who knows..

Bruno Zuculini has received an offer to continue his career in Lanus, but it appears Gallardo has requested he stay til at least the end of the year. If an offer from abroad appears, the club wouldn't put any roadblocks in order to allow the former Racing midfielder to secure his financial future, but at the moment they don't plan on just giving him away to another domestic side.

River still hasn't given up on Thomas Gutierrez and are currently in contact with his agent to get the Colombian defender to sign his first professional contact. San Lorenzo are monitoring the situation closely.

Gallardo's priority continues to be finding a quality forward reinforcement, and Sebastian Driussi remains the dream, although it is unlikely any movement will occur prior to our Libertadores R16 match vs. Argentinos in a few weeks (the Russians are waiting to see if a more juicy offer arrives). In the meantime, Silvio Romero was offered as Independiente undergoes economic turmoil, although it remains just that for now... an offer.

The chances of Rafael Santos Borre staying remain, as the Colombian hasn't received any convincing offers from Europe. The media was linking him to Inter Milan, although that has yet to formalize after being rumored for a while now. We'll have to see if his Copa America performances attract more interest (he started yesterday vs. Brazil). D'Onofrio plans on offering him a short-term contract that would make him the best paid player in the squad, as well as a percentage of a future sale, so it is possible he'll just continue with us.

Freaking Cavani.... the British press is claiming the Charrua put in a very good word about his NT teammate Nicolas De La Cruz to Man Utd's board, who are now very seriously looking into the possibility of signing him. Fiorentina and Roma have also been tracking him closely this summer. It'd be a heavy loss to see him go before the Libertadores knockouts.

In other news, Twitter sources are saying Fabrizio Angileri will move to Lazio for 7M. Nothing official from the club and we all know that Twitter is the undisputed home of humo, but if there is any truth to it I don't know how to feel... on one hand, it'd be a shame to see the former Godoy Cruz leftback leave when he finally started playing good after we waited an eternity for him to find his form, but on the other hand that's a decent figure for a 27-year-old who probably won't receive any big offers in the future.

If Angileri leaves, Cerro Porteño's Santiago Arzamendia (23-year-old Argentine-born left-back who starts for the Paraguayan NT) is being labeled as a possible replacement for him.

Camilo Mayada just became a free agent and is dying to return to the club. RIver would be willing to offer him a contract if Gallardo requests his incorporation, but for now he hasn't expressed interest. Could be a useful polifunctional back-up option..

There's also a possibility Lucas Pratto could terminate his contract one year early and move to Velez, although Oso doesn't seem too willing to resign the debt the club holds with him. It seems everyone plays us when it comes to transfer negotiations.

Mayada returning would be great, he was a consistent (if generally unspectacular) player who could play anywhere down the right, and we could really use that kind of depth.

And 7 million euros for Angileri, in this market, feels like a great price for a player that like you say loco, is unlikely to get more valuable. His improved form hasn't really helped the team much recently so...

While he still hasn't confirmed his future, Rafael Santos Borre's future appears to be in the Bundesliga, where Eintracht Frankfurt have offered him a tempting 4-year contract. River still haven't given up hope (they offered him to be the best paid player on the team), but the chances that he'll stay are slim.

Free agent Camilo Mayada in the end seems headed for Libertad, where he'd be teammates with Vangioni. Francescoli spoke about the situation recently:

"Ojalá tuviéramos la plata para ir por él, pero no es tan fácil. Camilo dejó México porque tiene previsto otro lugar con un contrato importante y realmente no podemos competir contra eso"

I mean, I understand not being able to compete with PSG, but we can't keep up with a Paraguayan club? God damn! o_O

Copa de la Liga Professional champs Colon inquired about the possibility of having Lucas Beltran and Nahuel Gallardo join them on loan, as Cristian Ferreira did a few months ago. Nahuel is also being sought by Orlando City and a few other teams.

Benjamin Rollheiser is another player who will analyze loan options, although for the moment there is nothing concrete.

Cremonese (Italy Serie B) have formally presented their offer for Bruno Zuculini, and it appears it would be a free loan with a $1M buyout clause. .... aaaaaand everyone continues to laugh at us at the negotiation tables. Gallardo wants him to stay at least 6 more months, but the player's personal desire will have a lot of weight in regards to his future.

Lastly, this has been written in stone for a year now, but as of today Jorge Moreira is officially a free agent. He leaves the club with 5 official titles under his belt, with the Recopa 2016 and Copa Argentina 2016 probably being the two tournaments in which he most played a role.

    Suerte Rafa!

55 goals in 149 official matches

    6 titles - Copa Argentina 2017, Supercopa Argentina 2018, Libertadores 2018, Recopa 2019, Copa Argentina 2019, Supercopa Argentina 2021

I'll never forget the role Borre played in the historic 2018 Libertadores title with his goals vs. Racing, Independiente, and Gremio in knockouts. Shame his goals in the 2018 CWC and the 2019 Libertadores final didn't count for titles though, if not he could have really achieved legendary status...

River didn’t waste time and signed 30-year-old forward Braian Romero from Defensa y Justicia in replacement of Santos Borre.

Although he never really stood out in Colon, Independiente, or Atletico Paranaense, he is coming off a fantastic season with Defensa y Justicia (21 goals in 33 games; top scorer of the Sudamericana 2020 with 10 goals, including one in the final). He also scored in both legs of the Recopa final vs Palmeiras.

I don’t know if he’s someone of the same quality as Driussi, but at least he’s probably a better option than Fontana. Hopefully we have a new Ivan Alonso

Braian Romero's transfer has been formally confirmed after he successfully underwent his medical earlier today:

$2.5M in installments for 80% of the transfer

"Estoy viviendo un sueño, espero no desaprovecharlo y disfrutarlo al máximo porque es algo por lo que luché muchísimo. Le dediqué mucho tiempo al fútbol desde Acassuso, estoy feliz de llegar acá y dispuesto a darlo todo con la mayor de las esperanzas para que le vaya bien al equipo y a mí... soy un delantero al que le gusta ir a los espacios, desmarcarse, presionar alto y ser molesto para los defensores"

This may increase Lucas Beltran's chances of moving on loan to Colon for 18 months. In the case that goes through, D'Onofrio should negotiate to include a clause that the club could recall the player at any point between tournaments so the Enzo Fernandez situation doesn't occur again.

18-year-old Colon attacking midfielder Facundo Farías is being linked to River, with Beltran possibly being included in the negotiation.

Could just be Gallardo planning for the future, but there are rumors he is seeking a replacement for Nico de La Cruz, as the Uruguayan had been linked to Man Utd, Man City, and Fiorentina and could leave during this window.

If Gallardo wants Farias to be eligible for the Copa Libertadores, we must sign him by Saturday night as that's the deadline to make modifications to the tournament roster.

Farias would be a good signing. Has a bright future.

I honestly am surprised (and happy) we kept Nico this long as I feel he should've been Europe-bound for months now. But I guess the pandemic economy prevented that.

Lucas Beltran and Nahuel Gallardo officially join Colon on loan.

The 20-year-old forward joins without a loan fee or a future buyout clause, staying in Santa Fe until June 2022. Gallardo will be there until December 2022 and has extended his contract with River until 2023 as a result.

Another player who has left on loan to a new destination is Augusto Batalla, who joined San Lorenzo. After spending two-and-a-half years in Chile (Union La Calera/O'Higgins), he returns home to play for his 4th Argentine side (River, Atletico Tucuman, Tigre, CASLA). The deal will last 18 months (-December 2022) and includes a buyout clause worth $1M for 80% of his transfer.

Speaking of San Lorenzo, it appears 19-year-old midfielder from our youth division Martin Lombardi is also headed there. After becoming a free agent two weeks ago, the left-footed playmaker quickly reached an agreement with the Cuervos.

Meanwhile, the club still is trying to convince Thomas Gutierrez to sign his first professional contract. His agent insists that the club must buy a percentage of his transfer at the moment of putting the ink to the paper, which appears to be the main issue.

In terms of reinforcements, River is said to be looking at Juan Ramirez (28-year-old midfielder who plays for San Lorenzo), but would only move forward if the pricetag is realistic. The club is hoping the player himself pushes for a move, if not the transfer seems unlikely given his club's original pretensions.

30-year-old Uruguayan international Gaston Ramirez has also been linked to River in recent days after becoming a free agent (he played the last four years for Sampdoria), although there has been no official movement from the club as of yet.

Valencia are coming for Gonzalo Montiel... The Spaniards are said to be preparing a €6M offer the Copa America champion RB, a sum which could increase by a few million if certain objectives are met.

He might not be fit for River at this point in his career so I’m not saying I’m opposed to his exit, but he just seems like the type of player who would score on us... kind of like Pepe Sand, if you will

Lol, what do you know... now suddenly after River made an offer for Juan Ramirez (San Lorenzo), Boca are interested in him as well

Mauro Cetto, San Lorenzo's manager, on the situation:

No formal negotiations at the moment, but there is a rumor going around that Francescoli got in contact with Diego Godin to incorporate him as a late reinforcement. Enzo has a very close personal connection with Godin and the Uruguayan defender seems to be interested in the option.

He still has another year remaining on his contract with Cagliari (plus the option to extend it another one), but he appears to be seeking an exit. The Italians are also looking to offload him due to his heavy contract that is impacting the club's finances during a critical time.

Where do you guys stand? The guy was an absolute beast in his prime and a world elite defender, but he is also 35 and hasn't exactly been that great since leaving Atletico Madrid two seasons ago. He does still feature regularly for the NT, though.

Maybe we can form a turtle-speed defense with the three grandpas -- Maidana, Pinola, and Godin. :D

Either way I don't think Gallardo will want him, having 5 established centerbacks in the first team (Diaz, Rojas, Martinez, Maidana, Pinola) without even counting the peripheral youth CBs like Lecande.

Joaquin Arzura is being linked with a loan move to Instituto.

Incredibly he still has one more year left on his contract with River, which appears difficult to terminate since it would cause Tigre to lose the 40% of his transfer that they currently posses and the player himself doesn't want his former club to lose a possible compensation.

Villarreal, Sevilla, and Real Sociedad said to be tracking Nicolas De La Cruz

    https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/tres-equipos-laliga-nico-cruz-20210730.html

21-year-old reserves leftback Santiago Montiel (Gonzalo's cousin) is close to joining Rosario Central on loan. River have already given the green light and now the player must agree personal terms, although that shouldn't be an issue.

Could be a good team for him to grow in... as a bonus, they're currently in the quarterfinals of the Sudamericana, so he'll also have an opportunity to gain international experience.

River is also seeking a loan destination for 23-year-old goalkeeper Franco Petroli, although there are no offers for now.

As for "Campeon de America x2" Montiel, the club has been told that an offer could arrive in the coming weeks for Gonzalo Montiel... remember that when he signed an extension earlier this year he reached a verbal agreement with D'Onofrio that they'd accept a future offer. If someone puts down ~€7M, he'll be gone... One month left in the European transfer windows.

In other news, Orlando City presented a formal offer for Julian Alvarez worth $12M ($10M lump sum + $2M in bonuses) the other day, although it was surprisingly turned down by the club. River would be willing to accept a counteroffer if they extend it a little, although Julian doesn't seem fond about the possibility of moving to MLS.
