During tonights broadcast, Shep Messing briefly mentioned a possible scenario where Meola would end up being traded back to NY to replace Tim Howard upon his departure to Man U.

Who do we get in return? I'd say we won't get: Magee, Mathis, Clark, Moreno, Pope, Jolley, Guevarra, or Galvan.

Do we want anyone else for Meola?

Personally, I doubt it happens, but it was interesting to hear.

Shep Messing is the one who implied it. I'm just posting it. As I said, I doubt it happens. But in related news, in sounds like San Jose is demanding Ricardo Clark for the rights to Joe Cannon, which the Metros won't do.

I think it'll be either Presthus from Columbus, or someone we arent familiar with (in the MLS).

I heard Bradly had been talking to Johnny Walker. And not the red, black or blue label.

Walker turned down the Quakes in the preseason over money.

Not sure about NY's cap situation either. I'd like to see Walker in MLS.

i don't think that he was dismissing the idea, so much as some of the candidates you mentioned for a trade.

magee, mathis, clark, pope, jolley, or guevarra? give me a break. tony is a good keeper, but he ain't that good and sure as hell isn't getting any younger. i think that metro will stick with grafer or simply pick up cannon or walker.

He also said it was unlikely, or someone did on the MSG broadcast. Don't see it happening.

Since Howard was making the max, cap room won't be an issue. The only issue is how much are they willing to pay him.

You should let Meola go back to Jersey and eat as many pies as he wants. Joe Cannon is much better.

    As what?
You can't mean in goal. the meola to NY rumor surfaced as soon as Howard to ManU did, but it's unlikely to happen outside of CM.

Dave and I talked with Bob Bradley before the game Saturday night. The Howard deal is done and happening after the Confed Cup. Meola was not mentioned. Walker was mentioned, but he didnt say much. They asked for Clark in the Cannon discussion and Bradley laughed and said no.

So its up in the air, but I'd highly doubt Meola's going anywhere. They've pimped the hell out of the guy in KC, they wouldnt just let him go.

I read recently (can't remember where) that Tony wants to play 5 more years and end his career in KC colors....I seriously doubt he wants to move his family again...

Every player in every sport says they want to end their carreer with their current team so that doesn't mean much.

I dont think it will happen but the move isn't out of the question. He loves NY/NJ.

What about Matt Reis? Why no talk of him being traded?

Messing was just talking out of his #ss. It was more of his own pipe dream to see Tony to return home to Jersey.

I don't think there's anything to it at all, except some announcer who likes to think out loud too much.

Correction: Tony's not limiting his possibilities.

"The people that I felt lied to me (with the MetroStars) when I left are gone now so I really don't have a problem with the people there. But I'm settled here now and we have a great thing in Kansas City.”

This is a politician type statement. He's not burning bridges in NY (in fact rebuilding) and yet he's not disappointing the locals either. I'd bet he'd have to seriously entertain the notion of moving if an offer to go back to NY came up. There is much more earning potential (outside MLS) and profile there. He might be getting lost on the radar a bit here in KC and I recall him stating his wanting to try things overseas when his MLS contract was up.

I still think he's a top 3 keeper in the league and want him to stay for sure. But now that Howard's all but gone and Brown would have to be up there but not available he's got to look like the proven/prototypical/solid/stable/veteren/no worries/leader goalkeeper any coach would want. Countess is on his way and the DC faithful or course rave about Rimando but I just don't see it; I give more credit to his defence. Rimando's good but he's on a slightly lesser plateau. Tony's off this year (so far way off) but he'll come around and I'd rather have him when it came down to the big game than anyone else (that's why he was on the roster for the World Cup).

I thought I heard, yet I don't remember where, that Tony wanted to stay and end his career here. Unless its all a big act, he seems to like the city pretty well. I dont know, I'd hate to see him go, and I'd hate to see what it is going to be like "post-Meola" between the pipes.

I think you probably heard him say that on 810.
