Anyone else getting excited for next weekend? Final set of games this weekend. More at: http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/soccer-men/d1 Hope the temperature will be reasonable. Looks pretty good for next Friday...
MD v VA will be massive, 3-3 draw @ Virginia and an 88th min own goal at home to win ACC. ND should make the finals. Not much quality in the NM v Wash match.
Will be chilly. Probably circa 25-28 on Friday evening and snow is predicted for Sunday. Repeat of what happened in the Linc yesterday? Hope they'll have an orange ball! Come out and cheer on 2 local boys; one on each team!

Just watched ND vs NM at PPL Park on TV - ESPNU. No [R] on this thread so I will not mention the result. The players were sitting opposite the team benches on aluminum benches. The stands looked as though they had been painted yellow. But, I think it may have been the lighting or camera. Very empty stands. I could not go but I am thinking of going on Sunday.
Only came for the 2nd game. Packed parking lots. Thought the stadium was packed but 'only' circa 4000. MD the stronger team. VA dropping down like flies but show some threat in front of goal. Now halftime. 1-0 for MD who brought a good bunch of loud cheering fans. Can't believe that no beer is sold (it was during the College football games ..).
I was watcing a little bit of the University of Virgina/Maryland game and the atmosphere was awful. There's nobody at the game.
Wrong (instead of sitting on your coach you should have been there!); there were tons of people but all on the north side. Especially near the rivers end (where the MD fans were who sung all the time) it was an excellent atmosphere. Note that they sung more than the SOB's these days! Zach Steffen had a world class save in the last 5 minutes. The VA boys have to lift some weights if they want to get their act together next year.
They have to make up for the lost beer revenue. Still can't believe no beer was served. Next time I'll watch at home!! Looks like my estimate of 4,000 was spot on: http://www.socceramerica.com/articl...ins-into-championship-game.html?edition=10972
I don't know who was in charge of promotion of this even but they did a terrible job. All over the news yesterday they talked about how it was such a busy weekend in the Philadelphia area without ever mentioning this tournament! I also found it interesting how the NCAA took down the banners below the overhangs and covered all the Union advertising around the stadium. I guess that is what they were busy doing instead of getting word out about the games.
I found it interesting that I did not see many young kids around, even though EPYSA really promoted the event a lot. Most attendees seemed to be in the 20-35 age group. A lot of parents did not seem to be interested in taking their kids to Chester on a cold Friday night... Let's see whether we'll see more young kids on Sunday.
If I lived near PPL Park,I would of most definitely been at the match. As far as people sitting on the opposite side of the cameras, you couldn't see them on tv. And another thing I don't like about college soccer is,the logos all over the field.
Between the cold weather last night, it being a Friday night, and the forecast for snow today, it scared folks away. The fam and I went to get a Cmas tree last night, and it was mobbed. Everyone, ourselves included, said they planned to go today, but didn't want to deal with inclement weather. Not saying people didn't go to PPL Park because they were picking out their tannenbaum, but weather must've been a factor.
My son was playing indoor soccer for his HS and club at YSC yesterday. As I am watching, all these players in blue start walking by me. Turns out the Notre Dame team had come to YSC to work out. The other parents told me it would not be appropriate to ask them for autographs. Cool none the less.
Maybe 1,000 more fans today and a lot more Maryland loud supporters. Very enjoyable game; 1-1 at halftime. The music before the game and during halftime is much much better than during the Unuon games!

Have talked to many folks who would have gone to the games had the prices been a lot lower. During the sale process various deals came via emails (2 for 1, $5 off vouchers, etc.). Instead of these 'deals' they should have offered any youth player associated with youth soccer club $5/game tickets. Then they would have sold more concessions, T-shirts, etc; and the stands would have been a lot fuller. Big missed opportunity.
i didnt go because it was too expensive and too cold to sit outside to watch teams i dont care about.
