"May 15, 2003 - The Menace are excited to announce the signing of Mike Tranchilla. Tranchilla was most recently with the Dallas Burn of Major League Soccer. He finished a stellar career last fall at Creighton University. Tranchilla led the Blue Jays to the NCAA title game. Upon ending his collegiate career Tranchilla was the Missouri Valley Conference's all-time leading goal-scorer with 55 and point-scorer with 140. He was a two time finalist for the Hermann Trophy (college soccer's MVP) and in 2002 was named First-Team NSCAA All-American and All-Midwest Region First-Team as well as the 2002 MVC Tournament MVP"

This team just keeps getting stronger:)

(Now if only they would announce that St Nick is back)

Hopefully he's on the road for the games tonight and Saturday since they count towards the US Open Cup qualification (right?). Win these two games against St. Louis and the Brass and we'll be sitting damn fine.

Ya know what would go great with this team?

    A STADIUM!!!

I know it. Obvious we really need to win all 4 to have a shot, but tonight against St Loius is bigger because they are already 2-0 and have a +6 goal differential. I'd like to drive down to KC but I don't know any other soccer fans in the area that are interested. My car needs inspection before another 6 out of towner.

    No kidding :/

Tranchilla is cleared & will be in St. Louis tonite.

St. Louis goal differential is not 6 because in the US Open Cup the GD is capped at 3 per game making it 5 in total, not much better from the Menace perspective.

How about updates tonight, anyone know where to find them?

If I woulda known my Saturday OTH game was going to be canceled I would have considered hittin' the Brass game.

The +/- goal differential won't mean squat if we beat 'em. Win the next two games we're in, the Wis' from 'consin are gonna have a long year if everyone tries to up their Goal Diff on them in every game!

Since both the Brass and St. Louie beat Sioux City 3-1 they should be comparable, tonight should basically tell us where we're going...

Checked the usual websites and called TV/news sports departments. Nothing yet.

Damn, I was even gonna drive down by myself if my car didnt need checking out.

True, but we still do have to win the next two.

The Menace site just shows a 0-0 tie, but who knows if it's been updated since kickoff, they don't show the minutes.
I'm starting to get the feeling I can start to understand how Nationwide team supporters can feel so passionate about their teams despite the fact they're at the low-end of the soccer totem pole in England. I'm tensed up waiting to hear about what happened!!!

Ditto. I really want to know what happened. I am supposed to go out in a few but I want to wait until I know.

    What?

What in the world is Mike Tranchilla doing playing with a PDL team? He was considered a good prospect coming out of Creighton last season and although he didn't stick at the MLS level certainly he can play at the A League level. What gives?

My guess is that Tranchilla will be commuting from Omaha to play with the Menace. He is currently trying to finish up school before going to play with the Dallas Sidekicks once the MISL season begins. Indoors is probably where Mike can be most successful if anyone knows his game well.

    Re: What?

Shaddup, we don't care if he can play at the A-League level. He's with us now :)

    Re: What?

He was drafted by Milwaukee in the A-League draft and Dallas in the MLS draft.
