RESERVES ADD TO WORLD CUP FLAVOR
    FOR HYUNDAI WUSA ALL-STAR GAME
    - Parlow, Slaton, Hooper & Mellgren Head List of Reserves With World Cup Ties -

ATLANTA (Monday, June 9, 2003) - The list of WUSA All-Stars who are expected to play in the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup increased with today's announcement of the reserve players for the WUSA American Stars and the WUSA World Stars. U.S. national team veterans Cindy Parlow (Atlanta Beat) and Danielle Slaton (Carolina Courage) head the list of reserves named to the American squad. Canadian national team striker Charmaine Hooper (Atlanta Beat) and Norwegian national team standout Dagny Mellgren (Boston Breakers) highlight an explosive WUSA World Stars roster. The Hyundai WUSA All-Star Game will take place June 19 in Cary, NC and will be televised live on ESPN2 at 7:30 pm ET.

In conjunction with WUSA Commissioner Tony DiCicco, the reserves for each team were selected by WUSA American Stars Head Coach Jim Gabarra and WUSA World Stars manager Tom Stone. Each team will feature 16 players. Since World Stars midfielder Homare Sawa will be competing for Japan in Asian World Cup qualifying during the All-Star Game, Hooper will replace her in the starting lineup. In addition to Hooper and Mellgren, Stone named San Jose's Diane Alagich, San Diego's Julie Fleeting, Washington's Kelly Golebiowski and San Jose's LaKeysia Beene to the World Stars. Beene was named to the World Stars due to the limited number of international goalkeepers in the WUSA. In addition to Parlow and Slaton, Gabarra named Washington's Siri Mullinix, Philadelphia's Heather Mitts and New York's Shannon Boxx to the American Stars. A brief look at the All-Star reserves follows:
