With MelanieC and Fidel Spoon out there I'm sure it won't take them long to quell my uprising. Moderators of what? Looks to me to be a couple of power hungry babies. I never cursed, or acted inappropriate in any sort of way.
Ouch. Name calling aside, I wondered when this thread would come. I was surprised to see the only guilty pleasure on the board closed. Isn't it somewhat the point of these boards to be a haven for such things? It's not as if we are going to get the info from local useless media. At the very least threads like that make the games just that little bit more interesting. Maybe the mods could explain to us uneducated heathen why that thread qualified for closing under present TOS standards.
1. You won't get a response for another few hours because they are at work and Taco Bell doesn't close till after 2:00. 2. I don't understand. If they didn't like it they can just not read it. Instead they put posts on there! 3. I wasn't talking about who Talley is dating or if Quill is gay or not. I was bringing up a valid point that had been heard by other reputable sources. Your telling me this post isnt any bit immature? Your thread wasnt justified in its closeing, but if it was such a big deal why didnt you ask them why it was such a bad thread? Commenting on how they work at taco bell etc. isnt going to help your case in any future threads you may make... welcome to bigsoccer, looks like you'll have a nice stay *sarcasm*
There are terms of service, but I don't think that thread violated any of them. BSB has long turned me off with censorship. James
I don't like the name calling, but I do agree that there have been some threads shut down that could have easily let die on their own. If the whole point of shutting down a thread is to save bandwidth, kill Pornakova and the "Add to your post count", please. If not, let them die in their own time. Like I said before nothing in my rumor post had anything offensive in it, and there were many people who were interested in it as it got 30 posts in a little more than a day. I normally post on kcwizards but since more people are in this site I decided to post more here and had my first post in a while shut down for no good reason, that’s crap. As for the name calling I don't think MelonieC or Fidel Spoon is that big of a deal, if so they must have thin skin. Maybe the taco bell comment was a bit out of line but they have yet to respond so I was hoping to get a reaction.
Well, the thread DID violate the TOS. BigSoccer TOS JPNutter9 was given the opportunity to provide evidence as to the truthfulness of his accusation. His failure to do so made it a simple matter for Spoon and Ben to be justified in closing the thread. Where this becomes interesting is if the accusations are indeed untrue. Then, by posting in a public forum, JPNutter9 opens himself up to a defamation tort by Nick, Chris, and the Wizards organization.
Dude just because I can't reveal my sources doesn't mean that it was a false statement (by the way it says knowingly false). To the contrary many reputable writers of books and for newspapers do not reveal sources when they report stories as many people wouldn't disclose information if their name was released. If you read some of the posts it was said that other people have heard this and some soccer publication (I'm not sure which one was said) reported a story of some sort about it. If I'm proven wrong on this I will apologize. Until then you can prove NO WRONG DOING on my part. By the way if is say "Quill is so overrated" does that mean that I am saying something defamatory about him? You must live in happy land with all the magical little elves that dance and everyone loves one another and nobody ever has their feelings hurt. Maybe we can organize another hands across America!
Oooh... I could give a ************. Opinion is different. You had the option to say exactly what you just said, and justify the reason for the thread being there. You didn't. Therefore, the closing of the thread was, in MY opinion, justified. I don't claim to speak for the moderators here, I was just voicing my opinion. If you've got these un-named sources, give us a little more background on them. Make your story at least somewhat believable.
I didn't get back to the site in time to respond before the dictators censored the thing. What is so unbelievable about my post? Its not like I said Quill would have an injury free season or something. I have thought for a while that it was dangerous for one player to be dating another players sister. Cheating does happen from time to time. People find out about it from time to time. Its not out of the realm of possibility. Ok here is where I hear it. A friend who goes to all the games with me has a friend who is good friends with Klein’s sister and found out about the whole deal when the break up was announced. Oh yeah the "room for the little guy" comment was just a joke.

No offense intended to you, but if that story comes from someone with 5000+ posts, it has more credibility than if it comes from someone with 500+ posts, which has more credibility than someone who has (at the time) less than five posts. Without the supporting documentation, it was a little off.
I thought you may think of ol' ferris. I post all the time on kcwizards if you want to look at that forum you will see that. Also I obviously am a Wizards fan if I even know that Garcia an Miss Klein are engaged right? I also wasn't trying to dive into their personal live just thought it may be trouble for the team. Garcia could be dating a transsexual midget lama but as long as we win the cup I couldn't give a rats. Truth be told I have avoided this site for as long as I could because I didn't find it as user friendly as kcwizards, but since it seems all the big fans are here I decided to give it more of a try. We have another asking someone with a valid beef (immaturely voiced but valid) how old he is and setting the threshhold of acceptable thread posting at the rediculous level of "only if you can prove it on my timeframe". Somewhere the creators of "innocent until proven guilty" are spinning in their graves. Here's a silly hypothetical suggestion - why don't the moderators prove the suppositions of the thread were indeed false. Failure to do so would be reason for revocation of powers. Mirrors can be educational. Meanwhile moderators prove that all power is corrupting by expanding the definition of "knowingly false" to include any and all rumor. Rediculous. Even if you try to float "sexual content" you have to have the reach of Plasticman to make "he cheated" into sexual content. "With a groupie" doesn't satisfy it either, not even in the bible belt. So, that just leaves "defamatory". Webster's has that definition as containing defamation or injurious to reputation. What unmarried male in the history of our great nation had his reputation injured due to having sex with an additional woman? More directly, what early 20s pro athelete? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? This isn't personal so don't take it that way. We all appreciate the efforts of moderators and the work they do to allow us the convenience of hashing over our sport. That said, people would do well to get over themselves and realize Big Soccer isn't a newssite. It will not ever be on the newsgroup listings - for good reason.

And fine if you've posted on other message boards, but things are different every where you go. You dont just show up at a party filled with people who are all friends (that you dont know) and start saying crazy stuff and blasting some of the people you dont even know do you? I know I wouldnt. And if MelanieC is the best you can come up with, you need help. Explaination: I think from the first thread, you could all see that I was for keeping it open, because I do think this is a place to talk about such things. BUT, I was only for keeping it open if there was a proper explaination from the person that started the thread, a thread that attacked the personal life of two players. Spoon told me he was leaning toward closing it. THEN, I got an email from a Super Moderator. (for those that dont know, thats a group of about 6 people that run BigSoccer, us little mods just help out) He informed me that he thought it should be closed. So with three peoples opinions, two leaning towards closing, the decision was made. End of story. And yes, although its a grey area, what you posted could be seen as a violation of the TOS. Questions? Post here or PM me, I'll answer them all the best I can.
Upon communication with the "Super Mod" I spoke of, heres the email he sent me: " Someone compared it on that thread to tabloids, but bear in mind that tabloids can get sued. I'm not a lawyer, but I would guess it's unlikely that BigSoccer would be at risk in this case ("anonymous" posters actually run a bigger risk), but it doesn't help our standing with players, MLS management, GM's, etc. (such as Peter Wilt and others who have a friendly relationship with BigSoccer) if we allow this kind of thing to go on. I personally just think that in cases where newbies start ************************ rumors, that we should treat them the same way we would treat a McBride to ACMilan rumor and shut them down, unless there is at least a little more credibility. I see your point and the debate is probably worth having, but I personally think the BigSoccer community benefits more from contributions of people like Peter Wilt than it does by having tabloid-type gossip mongering. Just because I didn't have a ton of posts doesn't mean that my information is false or unimportant. Nothing vulgar was said and my posts were not insulting in the least until YOU guys booted my post. I have said I will apologize the info turns out to be incorrect, will you apologize to me if it turns out to be true (which it will). I thought MelonieC was pretty funny, maybe Fidel Spoon needs some work.
I think that personal attacks on Big Soccer should be done thru PM's. I should know this all to well as I attacked Ben on a post about three weeks back. My argument pretty much turned out to be false and at the Columbus game, I spoke with Ben and we cleared up any misunderstandings. I know that Ben and Spoon would not close a thread had there not been some very good reasons for doing so. Having said that, I think this forum should be used to discuss every facet of the game, but ONLY after the truth has come out. Speculation just turns into a chaotic mess and jumping to conclusions is even worse.
No, just because you dont have a ton of posts doesnt mean you're unimportant. What it means is that on BigSoccer new people show up every minute that do crap like you did. They come on here, think the site is a joke, post some outrageous stuff and try to pick fights or spread misinformation. (I'm not implying that you are one of these people. I'm stating that they exists and show up each and every day. For example, one started a thread in this forum yesterday as well as Chicago and LA. I noticed, deleted the thread and he was red carded. These are the things that go on behind the scenes that some, most notably newbies, dont yet know about.) These people are referred to as "newbie", as the title suggests when you sign up. So, because of the things that many of us have seen for many years, you're not going to be able to just walk right in and be believed. Espcially when its such an outrageous accusation. You finally say you've gotta friend, who has a friend, who knows a guy.....Yeah, that helps. If you are proven to be right (if theres a way to ever figure that out) we'll start a thread and it will be newsworthy. I wont appologize, because theres no need to. No, you're right, you werent vulgar until the thread was closed. But then you threw a tantrum. You reported a perfectly fine post by Andy, called names, and started a thread bashing two moderators of this forum. Honestly, that reaction doesn't lend itself to helping me want to believe you when you come here with "news" about the Wizards.
