Megson, whos he? West Brom manager! Well he got sacked today because he will not sign a new contract. His current one runs out end of season. I feel sorry for him - getting the club to the prem then getting the nudge out the door. Cheerio Megson.
I remember when fergie announced he was retiring from the manyoo job .All the manyoo players got lazy and the results suffered .Results only picked up when he changed his mind and decided to stay .I guess the West brom chairman thinks that Megson will have a hard time motivating the players if they know he is gonna leave at the end of the season .It is the right move to replace him while the baggies still have a chance to have a half decent season.
This "lame duck" issue was a big problem for Bobby Robson at Newcastle, as well, after our chairman helpfully told the world that his contract wouldn't be renewed after this season. Once certain players (in particular Kieron "the Tw@t" Dyer) were aware of this they stopped listening to Sir B and tried doing whatever they wanted. Speaking of which, if the papers are to be believed, WBA could be turning to Sir Bobby.
Bobby and Bryan Robson combo is being reported. I hope this is true as i would like to see them both back into management in a job where they can have a chance to achieve something (unlike the sinking ship bryan had at bradford) I would love to see bryan robson do well in management as he did so much for the boro that people seem quick to forget when they remember him. One plus point for WBA is that all robson's mates have retired and so he won't be signing them all so he can have 1 big piss up! With the extra guidence of bobby bryan could be successful. But then again they might appoint micky adams.
Bryan Robson has come out and said he wants the job, as has micky Adams, while Bobby said he has not been offered the job, but he has not said he does not want it... Good bet will be Bryan Robson with maybe Bobby Robson coming in as a director of football.
I really don't want Bryan Robson, and I don't think he'd be linked to us if he wasn't ex-Albion. Don't really want Bobby either, on the account that I want a long term solution not a short term fix. Didn't enjoy seeing Megson go in this manner but he'll always be a hero. Do however feel that it was the right time. He appeared to have 'lost the dressing room', and was building up the momentum in losing the fans too, due to his tactics and team selections.
Seeing he's put his hand up, do you like Mickey Adams? Seems a number of teams were interested last year an over the summer.
I'm not really sure to be honest. He did good work at Brighton and Fulham, and was doing well at the Foxes until the La Manga incident. There's not one candidate I'd be really excited about getting, but he would get my full support if he got the job. After 4 1/2 years with Lord Megson I'd almost forgot what this 'new manager appointment' excitement/dread was like after we had 8 managers in my first ten years as a fan (1990-2000).
