Again, Steffen is not a “plays with the ball at his feet” specialist. This season, Guzan has touched the ball more often, has a better pass completion percentage, and has better save metrics than Steffen.
caling in guys like steffen and ream ...meh there are a lot of injuries to deal with and a lot of the alternatives are unavailable i dont mind the idea of going with the recent depth chart and making changes from there accordingly my hope is that Poch doesnt have to waste time relearning all of the things that those who have been following this team closely for years already know the steffen callup makes me nervous.....but the GK spot is incredibly weak....so ehhh still, if ream and steffen are on the WC roster, we're in trouble
He is significantly better with the ball at his feet than our other goalkeepers. Gusan has never been good with ball at his feet and have no idea why anyone would call for somebody who over the hill. You should watch more soccer and read fewer statistics.
I picked Guzan because, according to excellency, playing in the PL imbues you with magical powers that makes you more valuable in training (???). I do not wish to see Guzan on this roster (even if I miss his chrome dome). I have watched Steffen plenty this season (in person even), and don’t think he is particularly gifted with the ball at his feet TODAY, and his stats this season reflect that.
Just wait until Mauricio leaves Reyna at home because he doesn't play. Fan chaos will ensue. He's going to have to hold that line if he wants the team to take him seriously.
He needs to get serious about it because that sense of entitlement is why these guys lack effort and focus. It needs to apply to everyone immediately. Thierry Henry said a similar thing on CBS.
I dont put any weight to playing in MLS at this point. I have nomidea why you guys turn on certain players. Steffen has played well for the USMNT. Since our situation is so bad, I see no reason to not give him another chance (it was ridiculous he was ever dropped). I havent followed closely, but his issues seem to be mental so maybe they are fixable. I dont agree with the statement you are attributing to excellency, but he didn't just train with any MLS team. There is a reason Pep picked him to be his back up and it included his ability to play with his feet. He is significantly better than Turner and Horvath in this area.
It is pretty cool that we have so called USMNT rooting for one of our top players and one of the most irreplaceable players we have not be called in.
Maybe you should watch more soccer and read fewer psychology books? I don't disagree that he went to City for a reason, but he was also dropped from City for a reason. I don't think Steffen has looked the same since his injury issues in Germany. As someone who has (apparently?) seen Steffen's club performances more recently, I don't think he's in great form.
I'm not rooting against Steffen, I'm being real about how he's played over the past few season. I would not describe him as an "irreplaceable player" after 2019. I agree that the keeper depth is bad.
We're not Argentina or France. We don't have that kind of depth. We don't have that kind of pool. Poch will learn that. Its up to a USMNT coach to call in guys at big clubs who aren't playing as much, and the guys at medium/small clubs that are playing, and see who gives the team a better chance to win. Adams hadn't played 90 minutes in forever but came into the Nations League and played great against Mexico. Scored a fabulous goal. Its up to Poch to get to know these players and see..................is 80% Reyna better than 100% Brenden Aaronson as an attacking central midfielder. Maybe. Reyna isn't relevant to this upcoming camp. He's not 80%. And at some point, Tillman is going to break out with the USMNT.
I read less psychology books than I watch MLS, but I watch a ton of soccer. Then you would understand that Steffen is good with the ball at his feet. I find it hard to believe that he lost that skill. He hasnt been in form for years (rare to see an MLS fan talk about form for an MLS player). Unfortunately, Turner turned out to be the exact player that MLS fans refused to accept when they forced him down our throats for some advanced statistic and Horvath's development stalled.
The lack of 90-minute sharpness and fitness is obviously a major contributor to usmnt underperformance. The solution is simple. You can't have but a couple of guys on a tournament roster who are not 90 minutes fit. You can't play them 90 minutes and expect the kind of contributions (like defensive effort) that make the difference in the margins like in Copa America. Players who are not 90-minutes fit/sharp will have lapses and disappear for stretches.

Did you forget to quote someone else? It’s a vague post apropos of nothing, how am I supposed to know you’re talking about Timmy Chandler??
I purposely didn't quote the multiple morons. It is very obvious who I was talking about and your confusion is very odd.
1841896792788500741 is not a valid tweet id If I'm not mistaken, Mexico hasn't beaten the USA in a competitive match in several years, right?
2019 GC I think. That was also Berhakter leading Berhakter guys, so i don't think it is reflective of the USMNT.
Nope. Will be interesting to see if they can regain any type of momentum or if this U.S. gen can continue the strong play against Mexico for a while yet. The upcoming game could be pretty interesting for a friendly.
