Am I alone in thinking that they have just completely lost their edge?? I now change the station whenever I hear a RHCP song... "Take a ride on my Zephyr.." Is that anything like you Aeroplane, Mr. Keidis? Just seems like they aren' really trying, only trying to write pop music now...

Oh, and the Foo Fighters new single sucks ass, I wish it would stop getting so much airplay...It sounds like one of those songs you would write when you are 15 and trying to see if you could be a songwriter...

Has Anthony Keidis ever sung a song in key? He's keeping producers rich fixing his vocal tracks.

Well if you don't like what they're doing now, just wait cause on RHCP Behind the Music, Keidis said that he feels they haven't even begun, that they're just getting started.

Yeah, I'm kinda scared as well. One Hot Minute was their last good work but it was also the beginning of the end.

RHCP really went down the tube when they realize what a success "Under the Bridge" was. From then on they've been trying more and more to make songs like that leaving us with less and less "ROCKING" songs per album. Too bad cause they really kicked ass.

We once again see how going OFF drugs ruins a band.

I prefer the new Chilli Poopers to the old Chilli Poopers, but I can see how hard-care fans might be disappointed. I like the more melodic, singable stuff better than the funky whatyougotyougottagetitputininya stuff myself.

And it's so true, that guy never sings on key live - it's just more noticeable now that he isn't "rapping" so much.

I liked Californication, but By the way is OK, but not as good as their earlier stuff. They seem to be going for a more 'mature' sound now they're all around 40. Just as long as they don't get as bland and comfortale as U2..............

I was a minor chili pepper fan growing up in their supposed heyday, but I really like the new stuff. Their musical sensibilities are far better than they used to be. Sure, if they sounded like they had just won the band contest on American Idol, then you could complain. But that's hardly the case. They grew up. It's that simple.

I liked them just fine before, and some of the new stuff is good. But Anthony can't sing. He couldn't hold key if it had handles. All that smack finally finished off his voice. Live, it's painful to the ear.

I've never been a fan of John's guitar playing either. It just sound very blah to me. But that's just my opinion.

I've always been partial to pre-BloodSugarSexMagik. Come to think of it, I can't think from the top of my head any band that I'm more partial to newer material than older material. There are only two good songs on Californication and One Hot Minute was a rather awkward album. I think Chad Smith steals the show on BloodSugarSexMagik.

"One Hot Minute" was their crap album. They were going through huge turmoil and had a new guitarist who did not fit in with the rest of the band.

I wouldn't go that far, but One Hot Minute does sound the least Chili Peppers-like of any of their albums as far as I'm concerned. I think it was the closest thing to a Dave Navarro solo project that one could hear before he actually DID do a solo project.

this could be part of it.. as the people get older, their music slows down.

but yeah, the "red hot" chilli peppers seem to be the "midly lukewarm, refridgerated" chilli peppers.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik was the real beginning of the end. There are plenty of good songs on that album, but once they discovered The Ballad, the seeds of mediocrity were sewn. There's nothing wrong with ballads, but kee-ripes, not every other song.

The period between Freaky Styley and Mother's Milk was always my favorite. Very juvenile (like most of their good stuff), but fun.
