Wow ...I like Garcia. This guy's work ethic is amazing. He's all over the field. Not to mention he can serve some great balls. His ability to win balls no doubt helped us seal this game. Now lets seal this series on Saturday!!!
Freddy is one of my favorite players, but unfortunately he has a habit of not using his speed when he has a breakaway. He pauses halfway through his run instead of just tearing loose and running down the field. He had a great game tonight, he's my man of the match.
I really like Freddy as well. Two things I would like to see from him is 1 shoot more, he seems to have a pretty solid left so I would like to see some distance shota to keep the keepers honest. Second I would like to see him use his vision and accuracy with his left foot to hit Cunningham in stride in stead of going for McBrides head like he seems to do a majority of the time. Rob
Freddy has stepped up pretty well. The only problems I have with him is his love for diving (maybe he got that from Ruiz back home) and his fear of taking on players 1-on-1, but the latter has increased a bit. He definately has won his spot in the startin 11.
From Sirk's notebook: "I have only been in the lineup for three games, and to have two goals is huge for me," said Garcia. "I'm happy to help the team. The best is yet to come!" 3 games.. 2 goals.. 2nd coming of Stern John?
And a trip to the gym. Did you see him rip off his shirt in SJ on Saturday? I think he has made a huge difference by actually giving us some action from the left. It spreads out the offense width-wise and forces the defense to make some choices. As for him delivering the ball "to Cunningham's feet" instead of McBride's head, are you crazy" Firstly, if we finally have someone who can put one onto the head of the best air-player on the continent a couple times a game, why on earth would you want him to stop doing it? Secondly, Cunningham is a one-on-one guy. He has never really done well converting that type of ball. Why are you people so opposed to having several different types of offensive threats? Why is it you all want the entire offense to focus on whatever personal little pet player you fancy? Can't you see that it is the variety of threats which make this offense so potent? And why in God's name would ANYBODY suggest we stop sending balls to McBride? I honestly, truly wonder about some of you guys.
Andrulis REALLY touched on this in his post game news conference, about how much more effective the Crew are being able to attack from the left with proficiency now.
That and our depth (and diversity) has probably been the only thing keeping us in the playoff race and the playoffs.
