Matic: That's the 2nd or 3rd goal this season where there was absolutely no danger except from the cutback pass to the top of the box and Matic was there in plenty of time but just wandered around guarding nothing. Abraham: He's just not that good at finishing. He scores goals but seemingly about 1 if he gets 4 perfect chances. Shomurodov missed one as well but I still don't see much that separates these two strikers, especially to the degree that one of them gets a 1000 minutes and the other about 10. Pellegrini: would be nice to see him look for a pass instead of firing 10 shots a match into a wall of 4 defenders. Injuries: this may be the worst that it has ever been for the sheer number of muscle sprains, pulls, tears etc . . whatever the hell they are doing to prevent injuries perhaps should be the opposite,
This is why nobody should complain a 1-0 win , deflected goals ,30% possession,1 shot on target Because losing while dominating feel 10x more awful Mourinho coached for 4-0 ,roma gave him 0-1 Get sacked please , no point staying here any longer
The frustrating thing is that we played pretty well in general. Not sure if it's better form or just that this team plays well against Atalanta specifically. If not for Matic failing to cover that cut back pass and Abraham missing sitters this match could well have been 3-0 Roma. Credit to Atalanta though for the mentality to actually make the crucial plays.
Mourinho really gets the tactics right against Gasperini and Sarri. It's interesting that those have consistently been the two opponents since he arrived where you see our midfield (regardless of who starts in midfield) being able to play the ball into Tammy (and/or Belotti's) feet instead of resorting to low percentage long balls in the air. This opens up everything for the counter attacks.
Probably because those 2 play open attacking football. None of our midfielders are capable of playing in tight spaces which makes them useless against low blocks
Yeah, I agree with you that it comes down to midfield tactics and how they relate to our lack of dribbling quality there. I suppose both are set on "playing their football" and don't really set up to do what gives us the most headaches: 1) take advantage of us allowing possession in our half 2) but, then concentrate mainly on how well you stay set up to press when we get the ball back and try to score off turnovers in our half
