A 22-year-old American, developed in the Dallas academy, is starting in central midfield for Juventus in their season opener. Read that sentence a few times and let it sink in. This ********ing rules. Best of luck to Weston today.
Gianlucca Frabotta is also a fascinating selection, as he's a Juventus U23 who has a grand total of 1 professional appearance for the full team. Pirlo is showing that he isn't afraid to take risks.
just so awesome to see what this young generation of american players are doing. it's pretty mind boggling
McKennie nearly got an early assist on a simple square ball, as Danilo came very close with a long range effort.
Not too involved so far but juve look good and lead 1-0 on a wonderful left footed curler. Nice switch of play just now from weston to cuadrado almost leads to a goal.
McKennie is looking OK so far. Lots of hustle and clean, simple passes, but he did just get got on the ball near midfield.
A pretty poor start by Wes. A couple errant passes and lost possession by just being a bit slow of thought.
McKennie placed a decent long-range ball over to Cuadrado on the right side in the 17th minute. This is the first time I'd seen something adventurous from McKennie on the ball, other than one earlier attempt that didn't work.
McKennie reached Kuluscevksi with a good ball at the top of the box in the 19th minute, but Kuluscevski cannot control and it's cleared.
teammates are looking for him, a few nice passes, one poor that was played right back that chiellini recovered giving him the chance to tell wes right in his ear to tighten up- all good things.
He's 19 for 20 passing, so by definition he hasn't had a "couple" of errant passes. McKennie wins a tackle in midfield, leading to a Juve counter that ends with Ronaldo hitting the bar.
