Do you think any European clubs will try to get McBride to come to Europe permanently? I would think some teams would be interested after the WC and his performance with his short stint with Everton, but I haven't heard anything. I think McBride could be a solid player in the EPL.
I thought Spurs might make a move for him with Teddy getting quite old and Keane being their only consistent goal-scorer outside of Teddy.
I think they look at his age as being a risk to invest too much $ into him, but I agree that he would do well. He still has 3 solid years left, at least.
If he stays healthy and plays well, I think there is a pretty good chance that a club will make a move. But there is always the possiblity that Brian will not want to go, for whatever reason.
Everton made Brian an offer and he turned it down. I dont think he will ever play outside the MLS again.
I would love to see him stay in the MLS for the reason because he helps the quality of the league and we would lose one of our top strikers if he went. However, at the same time, I want to see McBride play in Europe, because I think he can play very well over there and gain a lot more respect than he has now.
According to McBride's interview last Saturday, didn't he say that Everton was only interested in extending his loan for another year (i.e., not transfer)?
I agree that Mc Bride will stay in MLS, if anything another loan in the offseason is most i can see him do.
Everton said they wanted an 18-month loan extension, and McBride said "thanks but no thanks". I got the impression that had Everton and MLS reached sale terms, he would've been receptive to the idea of a permanent move. Loans aren't good when you've got a young wife with a step-daughter and another in the oven. He will probably finish his career in a Columbus kit, and I think he's perfectly happy with that. He sold his condo in Columbus and house in Chicago and got a new place in New Albany, a super-swank suburb of Columbus. Should somebody come along with a purchase deal that makes sense, I'm sure he'll consider it, but he's in no hurry to leave.
