Didn't see this anywhere, sorry if I missed it. BMac will be on the Hot List on ESPNews today. He should be on in the 4pm ET hour
saw ej on tuesday and he was a DIFFICULT interview... keller was on wednesday was was really good... maybe mcbride reveals the line-up???
Perhaps McBride will demonstrate his heading technique, or even talk a little of that famous "McBride Jive" towards the Mexican players. Didn't the team film some sportscenter commericals last time they were in the studio? Whatever happened with those?
For those of you who work and couldn't see the interview (do we need an [R] on this? ), McBride was his usual self. All about the team. No real news. Some tidbits I learned. 1. Because McBride grew up in Chicago he is a fan of the Cubs, not the Cards. 2. McBride attributes his heading ability to growing up playing a variety of sports. He referred to himself as a "sports rat." Interviewer ended with a plug for the match. "Should be a great game."
it's already 5:12 pm, still no McBride. what time he's gonna be on guys ? i have to send someone to the hospital, it's an emergency but i have to watch Brian first....
Ya know, for a network that allegedly hates this sport so much, they've had a member of the national team on for an interview three straight days. This, after having LD on the "hot seat" before the T&T match. Yeah, it would be nice if the game was being previewed on SportsCenter, but ESPNews ain't bad and damn sure better than nothing. I think we should e-mail the folks at ESPNews and thank them for promoting the game so much this week.
it is, but we know what ESPN does when they really want something promoted. think about the endless "50 in 50" promos -- how many times have we heard that Bryan Adams song this summer??????????? or the "ESPN Hollywood" promos?? those things go NON-STOP. and they do similar things during the NBA season, and for their NFL telecasts. the thing is, it's not like the soccer promos are scant compared to their other promos -- it's that there AREN'T ANY soccer promos. i mean, it's not like there are a few 10-20 second spots laying around that they just run less-often than their others, THERE ARE ZERO SOCCER PROMOS. just look at what NBC has done for Arena football. if a network really wants something to succeed it will do everything it can to facilitate that, if a network doesn't, it will treat it like ESPN treats soccer.
i have a feeling that espns coverage of soccer will soon start to grow, maybe not by leaps and bounds, but the number of kids that grow up playing soccer is growing, and it is growing hugely, and hopefully that means that the number of them that grow up wanting to watch soccer will start to multiply, and demand will grow forcing them to air more soccer, i mean they have shown that they will if the demand is there(espn desportes) so sooner than later we will get what we want
