I was happy to catch the Fulham game and see McBride come on in the second half. He was not a big part in the overall play of the game, but having him back on the field must have been a boost just in itself. They got the win! I am glad that he is getting back to playing and I look forward to him getting to 100 percent and able to start and play like he was able to last season.
It was great to see Brian back. He had some unfortunate timing. I was looking forward to the ovation he would get as he prepared to come on. Then Hughes put the ball in his own net as Brian was set to come on, and when he came in for kickoff, Fulham fans were mostly to ticked to notice. Still, great to see Fulham come back at the end instead of giving it away. Great to see Bullard have a good game after more than a year off injured. And I'll take this opportunity to toot my own horn. I've been steadfastly maintaining that Fulham would not go down with Bullard and McBride back. This win was huge in that regard. Though I'll admit I was beginning to worry about the gap that was opening up. I'd love to see Fulham and Reading stay up. And as much as I like Wigan's story, this means they probably go down (Derby, Wigan, Birmingham).
favorite us player for me. He is synonmous with US player development going from a one trick pony with his head to the captain and leader scorer(last year) of a Premier League club and he is well respected by all his peers in the league. He's back with a plus 2 so far in 20 minutes of action. I think for a sub, it's a stat that is not the most important but is sometimes overlooked. How many goals for and against you are on the field for.
I know that McBride did not score either of those goals but maybe it was just a coincidence that absolutely nothing went right for Fulham when he was injured.. then he comes on and they go on to score 2 goals and win their first game since.... when was it, before he was injured? I don't know if his presence had anything to do with it - but it was a symbolic sequence of events. Hopefully BMB and EJ can go on to form one of the most unlikliest partnerships in the premiership.
