    The only really sad part of the article; a quote from McBride, after describing the great atmosphere at Everton home games...

    "In the U.S. you don't get that feeling, that reverberation around the whole stadium."

    In time... we will.

    cool, it is a good piece... i just didn't want people thinking that tsn was doing more than the fantasy game... although, i do hope they pick up their coverage (or start, i should say)

    I thought hell had frozen over when I opened the Times Recorder here in Zanesville and saw the same article take up half of the 3rd page of the sports section( including a color photo).

    Good move to the Times Recorder. Cover something else other than murders and religion.

    There's only one Brian McBride

    The best part of the article was:
    ====================
    The 30-year-old forward has become an instant hero at Goodison Park, with 30,000 fans singing, "There's only one Brian McBride."
    ====================

    Two questions:
    1. Does anyone have any idea of the tune to this?
    2. Will Crew Stadium denizens sing McBride's praises in a similar fahion in 2003?

    I have thought for some time now that somebody from a supporters club (pick one at random - hint, hint) should get on one of the Everton boards (there are about a dozen) and ask about this sort of thing.

    How freakin' cool would it be for BMB to hit the field at CCS and hear exactly the same song(s) sung about him that they sang at Goodison? I'm betting it would blow him away.

    In fact. were I a member of some random supporters club, I'd go so far as to get ahold of some OTHER supporters clubs and get them involved too. It's just the sort of thing almost anybody can see the value in, and could actually be satisfying enough that it might lead to actual FURTHER cooperation between the groups.

    That's, of course, what I would say to somebody from one of these random supporters groups, if I knew how to get in touch with any of them.

    (insert insipid smilie here)

    The "There's only one Brian McBride" is mostly likely sung to the tune of "Guantanomero" and works very well in man languages consider the german version "Es gibt's nur ein Rudi Voller". I'd love to hear about crew fans singing this to him, make it happen folks.

    Too bad this piece didn't run in the Dispatch.

    Pretty sure it's Juantanamera. It would go:
    One Brian McBride,
    There's only one Brian McBride
    Briian McBride
    There's only one Brian McBride

    It's a little clunky with McBride's name. It worked really well when the Irish sang it for their goalkeeper, Packy Bonner.

    Don't know what fool wrote this article, but Everton get 41,000.

    >Outside the stadium, vendors hawk magazines with his face on the cover. Inside, fans sing his name.<

    You mean Tom Radinski.
