US lose 4-1, lucky not to give up a few more, unlucky not to get a few more. Encouraging moments in the second half, but struggled with pressure from Brazil attacking players early.
Marcelo owned our whole team. Great play by Gomez though, he deserves a starting gig. Also, midfield was a terrible failure in this game. Kind of a mess like last game except this time around we weren't allowed the same benefits. The Edu and Bradley switch was a questionable.
I'm actually a bit encouraged by this, in a strange way, our midfielders and offense looked decent, our defence, with the exception of Fabian Johnson was completely inadequate though, hence Brazil having the effective plan to pressure the hell out of them as they knew our defender's can't deal with it.
I have been a Klinsmann sceptic but this is what his supporters were hoping for (minus the result). I am not in any way disappointed. Well done USA.
Honestly, I don't feel this was a big loss. WE had some good chances in the 2nd half. However, so did they. argh
Good - Fabian, Jones, Gomez, Bradley, Brasil's keeper Bad - mainly Gooch, Landon (marcello owned him)
They actually did pretty good at passing and getting up the field. The penalty was cheap. Jones defending on the set piece was shambolic. The other 2 Brazil goals were just better soccer players being better. Johnson, Gomez and Bradley all had good games.
A lot to like, a lot to dislike. We need new CB but i can't think of any players that might be better than the ones already in the roster. Maybe Ream will get better.
Had a lot of chances in the second half and were just unlucky. Honestly I'm encouraged by Johnson, Gomez, Jones, and Bradley from this game. This isn't as bad as the scoreline would indicate.
Some stronger play from Onyewu, who had one of the worst performances I've seen from a US centerback in quite some time, and the scoreline would be a lot easier to swallow. Bradley has proven that he can lead an international quality midfield, its astounding how much his touch improves every season.
Let's see: *Scoreline was very flattering to Brazil, even though they dominated early. US had more good chances in the second half than Brazil did. *Fabian Johnson is still the left back of the future. Open auditions at the other three spots once Dolo retires. *You could make a very good argument that Gooch was responsible for all four Brazil goals. He had a howler. *The whole midfield was overwhelmed early with Brazil's pressure, but Michael Bradley shined in the last 60 minutes. He's on his way to world class. *More please, Herc.
So aside from the CBs, and the first 15 minutes of CM play, we were pretty damn good. We looked much, more more lethal when Clint got on the field.
Bocanegra/Edu/Torres and Jones/Donovan to a lesser extent could not replicate their performances against Scotland. Bradley/Johnson/Gomez best US players.
What I want to see: ------------Herc/Jozy------------ --Dempsey------------Donovan-- ---------Mike-----JJ-------------- ---------------Edu----------------- --Fabian--Boca--Cameron--Lichaj Any takers?
A lost for words? Aprenda ingles plz before you attempt smack. Despite the scoreline, the team looked impressive.
That game showed why the Cameron experiment is worthwhile. A centerback with size and speed who can also pass would have been perfect for this game. Not sure Cameron is ready, but he at least has the skill set that is needed.
Good The us created chances, quite a few good ones Herc Gomez: makes life difficult for Klinsmann Bad Maurice edu is a liability with the ball against a quality team like brazil Brings up the issue that playing the ball along the ground can lead to when you went careful. All Brazil's goals came from bad midfield turnovers that lead to odd man breaks against the backline. It often looked like the gold cup final. The backline organization is a mess. Onyewu looked quite behind the speed of play. Us created a lot of chances but couldn't finish. Brazil showed that finishing is a skill and were lethal. We were not.
