Maurits de Baar at FC Lienden

Maurits de Baar was trialed last week by FC Lienden. This team plays in the Dutch second division.
Last friday he played 60 minutes in a friendly match against 2nd division team Sparta U23 and with two goals and one assist he had an important contribution in a 1-5 victory.
Maurits can sign a professional contract at FC Lienden for next season. However he is about to travel to the US for a trial at a USL team so maybe his American dream might even come true!

 

Maurits is on his way for a one week trial at Orange County Soccer Club. OCSC is ranked as number 3 in the United Soccer League B.
A great experience for him and maybe the start of a career as a soccerpro in his country of birth

The chairman of a footballclub where Maurits played for in the past, has business relations with some ULS and MSL teams and send the YouTube clip of Maurits’ highlights past season. This was enough for them to invite him.

@TheFalseNine @bungadiri -- Any reason why he's not in YAA? His club has always been in 2nd tier in the Netherlands? I don't see any top tier appearances.

His new club is in the fourth division. I wonder why he made the move? Seemed like he was getting time and having some production.

With that said, the path of life is never what we would expect. Hopefully, he will get a chance to springboard back up a division or two during the next few windows.

 

TM says he's moving to Sparta Nijkerk next season. They are in the fifth division, but are amid a playoff promotion.
