Subs on at half of a 1-1 game where Rotherham were already down a man after an 18th minute red card by Crooks. Vs. Middlesbrough. Went down 2-1 in the 55th. ESPN+ game, if anyone is a glutton for punishment.
Watched the last 30 minutes of this. He didn't stand out either way. He showed some wheels and hustle, but didn't do much lock down defending, and the team had a hard time getting forward so other than one dribbling run that was a challenge to retain possession, didn't get much into the attack. Much of that was being down a man since the 18th minute. 2-1 loss.

77 | The Millers make a triple change as they chase the equalising goal in the capital. ▶️Hirst, Barlaser, Olosunde ◀️Lindsay, Harding, Ogbene (1-0)#rufc | #ForeverTogetherForeverProud pic.twitter.com/rROBjDFD3U— Rotherham United (@RotherhamUnited) April 27, 2021 Lost 1-0.
They are literally playing “New York, New York” at the end of the game. Olosunde didn’t play, but Rotherham got an important 1-1 draw.
Everyone watch this instead of the Champions League, because Olosunde is starting: TEAM v @LutonTown | Blackman; Olosunde, Harding, Wood (C), Ihiekwe, Giles; Barlaser, Wiles, Wing; Crooks; Smith. SUBS | Johansson, Mattock, A.MacDonald, S.MacDonald, Lindsay, Sadlier, Jozefzoon, Ogbene, Ladapo. #rufc | #ForeverTogetherForeverProud pic.twitter.com/B2ATnh1viI— Rotherham United (@RotherhamUnited) May 4, 2021
Somewhat even game through 35 minutes, though Luton are the superior team. Olosunde had one very good cross that should have led to a good shot, and has snuffed out two counters from RWB.
Done for the day in the 65th minute. Probably needs his teammates to at least hold on to the draw to still have a chance of staying up.
On the bench, DNP, in a 1-1 draw that relegates Rotherham: TEAM v @CardiffCityFC | Blackman; Ihiekwe, A.MacDonald, Wood, Harding; Jozefzoon, Wiles, Wing, Giles; Crooks, Smith. SUBS | Johansson, Mattock, Olosunde, S.MacDonald, Lindsay, Barlaser, Sadlier, Ogbene, Ladapo. #rufc | #ForeverTogetherForeverProud pic.twitter.com/algom3mdMj— Rotherham United (@RotherhamUnited) May 8, 2021
They took the lead in the 6th minute against Cardiff and held that lead until the 88th minute. If they'd held on, they'd have stayed up on GD.
A contract extension or another League One side will take him. Can't imagine a Championship side going for him but it's hard to see why he would have to drop to League Two either
Turned down a chance to re-sign with Rotherham & is looking elsewhere: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...ted-with-no-animosity-says-paul-warne-3264175 The 23-year-old, who signed for the Millers in the summer of 2019 from Manchester United and went on to make a total of 72 appearances, was out of contract at the end of June and has elected to move elsewhere to seek a new challenge.
He scored against Everton and played really well in the Championship...he oughtta be able to find a better team to play for, imo.
Yeah he looked legit in that Everton match. Wise move not re-upping as he belongs in at least the Colaship.
Rumors of Preston North End interest: https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/preston-north-end-transfer-news-20765396
That's a definite upgrade on Rotherham - the EPL is of out of reach but they're very rarely in a real relegation struggle - and a far better shop window for his abilities: there are more and much higher-ranked teams in Lancashire than in South Yorkshire.
Sheffield Wednesday has entered the conversation: https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...ter-united-youngster-matthew-olosunde-3282114 The Owls have a reported transfer embargo looming over them that means they cannot pay any fees – transfer, loan or otherwise – while their ongoing unpaid wage issues mean that even persuading free agents to make the move to Hillsborough is tough at this time.
