Oh jeez, as much as we try to get TimB4Last to change his tendoncies, it seems to be a lost cause. Hopefully he doesn't try to exsprain his jokes next.

Vanity will get you no hair. Or was that a request for a tail?

It was a dark and stormy night,
    and the First Mate said,
    “Captain, talus a story,”
and this is the story he told:

He's played in (something like) 5 games and 2 were Real Madrid and Barcelona....amazing.

(88th minute) "Thanks a lot coach!" Did he even get to touch the ball?

Barca did sub on Lenglet for Alves immediately after Hoppe came on - obviously a tactical adjustment made out of fear of Hoppe.

Received the ball once, back to goal in his own half, got stuffed by Lenglet. His other touch was during a dead ball where he sprinted after it and kicked it back to the free kick taker.

Mallorca showed an odd lack of urgency during those five minutes. At least Hoppe showed urgency.

He beat me! I peaked playing the Olympic ‘B’ team of China many years ago, and practice games with NASL and Major Indoor Soccer League.

(although you can find some really skillful players almost anywhere on pickup game Sundays overseas)

And you beat me. My claim to fame is playing a former Man United reserve player in my 7 vs. 7 adult YMCA league.

    (We lost.)

Played with an aging Romario - a couple of times - during morning PT with the Brazilian Army.

Lived close to the Charleston Battery stadium when Andrew Carleton was on loan there.

As for Hoppe, I just hope he finds a better situation next year.

You must be addressing his on-the-field situation, because I doubt his off-the-field situation could be much better (than Mallorca).

What was really impressive was watching the dude (and others) play futvolei on Ipanema Beach. I need a cerveja stupidamente gelada just thinking about it.

On the bench today in 6-2 loss, but DNP. Schalke earned their way back to the Bundesliga this afternoon.

Mallorca had a dramatic late winner this week that pulled them out of the relegation zone.

    Hoppe was on the bench.

    Off topic...

Small world. I grew up west of the Ashley, but that old Cooper River bridge really freaked me out as a kid.

He didn't play. Mallorca won. They survived relegation by 1 point.
