I feel like we (people on BS) have a ton of people who follow and have a lot of info on the Bundesliga but, I haven't seem the same for La Liga. Maybe it's because we historically didn't have anyone playing there. Would be nice if Holden had a secret account on here to give us some undercover insight.
It's also that, historically, the US nationals who follow La Liga tend to root for El Tri (or some other Latin American country), not the USMNT.
I'm watching the ESPN+ spanish version and he has been mentioned a few times by the commentators. Mostly information that we all know about him. I just realized we haven't see Hoppe (outside of Germany) play as a CF.
The Spanish is a very tactical league. It's unlikely Hoppe will get more than a cameo until he's learned to dot his Is and cross his Ts in training.
Call me racist, but he is from California. Cards are open on the move. Apart from one hour before deadline.
I don't know. I suspect that Schalke will spend more time in the top flight than Mallorca in the next few years. But it's hard to say.
Good guess. Schalke is one of the giants of Germany/BL1, Mallorca gets a cup of coffee in La Liga once in a while.
That depends how you define 'few years'- yes, you are right- it is hard to say. Hamburg thought they were too big a club to stay in the BL2 long. So did Hannover. They all do when they go down. Mallorca does have enough talent to stay up, granted still difficult thing. Over next 3 years, I'd prolly say even money, coin flip, between Schalke and Mallorca. Eventually, yeah inertia should take over and Schalke will get back up and solid in BL1. I will say, I think Hoppe was excellent business for them. Surprised he didn't get more suitors at that price. Mallorca played the risk/reward game extremely well here, even if doesn't work out. There are no sure things, and if any player looks even close to that, they are well outpriced for club like Mallorca. In terms of Hoppe, he hit the jackpot in every way. I'm jealous like crazy of his youth and quality of life and this next career step. Smart kid haha
Schalke appears to be in some trouble . Im not so sure they can weasle out of it with their money problems.
Saw a little of Mallorca game. They could use a Paxton Pomykal on loan, who shouldn't cost much with his injury history. A few brilliant plays from Pax and they night stay up.
Some quotes from Wagner on his time at Schalke: “There were so many things I was not able to influence. And if you have the feeling that whatever you do, you will not change it, it’s a horrible feeling. It doesn’t depend who is on the sideline. You can bring in whoever you like: this club will not stop going down.” So it proved. The problems at Schalke were manifold: mounting debts, the growing disconnect between the club and its fans, and the hated owner, Clemens Tönnies, who was cleared by the board despite making racist remarks during a speech. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...young-boys-champions-league-manchester-united
