Headed to Schalke? Getting word @MatthewHoppe9 (Barca residency academy, Arizona) is planning to sign with @s04_en. Forward from Yorba Linda, CA scored 29 goals in 20 Development Academy matches and was slated to attend San Diego State. https://t.co/X7HbgtuK0R— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) June 8, 2019
Well, he can be like Jermaine Jones... that's ok by me. It is interesting how open Schalke seems to be to US players.
I wanted to refer to Zyen Jones, haha, but as you said, if he is like Jermaine Jones will not be bad for him.
I knew what you meant, but if we have the choice of two Jones... I'll take JJ! But hey, Zyen is still young. Stateside might work out better for him anyway.
He's very hoppey Extremely happy and thankful to announce that I have signed my first professional contract with @s04. I would like to thank God, my family, my friends, and my coaches that have helped and supported me to this point. Super excited for what is to come! 🇩🇪🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/84V548NZaw— Matthew Hoppe (@MatthewHoppe9) June 15, 2019

Interview: https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/barcas-matthew-hoppe-hops-the-pond_aid46464 Last season at the DA playoffs, he connected with an agent that would eventually open the door for his trial at Schalke earlier this year. His trip to Schalke wasn’t his first time abroad. Last December he had a trial with 2. Bundesliga side Hamburg, and stopped off at Dusseldorf for a couple of weeks before arriving in Gelsenkirchen. In the middle of all that, Hoppe was included in a small group of Barca Academy players that traveled to Barcelona, for a chance to train with La Masia and get exposure to the vaunted youth academy.
Fixed your post. You're lucky I'm a nice guy or I would've told the mods to red card you for not making the obvious bad joke when the opportunity presented itself.
Hoppe scored the last goal for Schalke in a 1:2 defat against Midtjylland. He scored 3 goals in the u19-Oberndorf Tunier. Sharing the Golden Boot with his team mate Rene Biskup. schedule: https://www.u19-oberndorf.com/turnierplan/2019.php The Only clip I found. His goal against LFC (0:38).
