GOAL HOPPE WOW! - Great little layoff to him at midfield, and he just dribbles the whole way down and calmly puts it inside of the far post. He takes advantage of the fact that it was a 4 v 2 - if the defender overcommited to him, he had a wide open pass.

Chandler gets endline and rolls it across exactly where he should, but no Frankfurt players attack it.

Similar subs just now - Frankfurt bring on Luka Jovic, and Schalke bring on Mastriciani, who might be making his league debut.

Hoppe goes for the own goal, to go with his menu of stats from today. He misses it.

The translated version of Kicker's report on this 3rd goal is a treat:
"The SGE is way too open: Hoppe pulls in from the right, then the joker pokes through on Flick, who leaves Trapp no chance with a placed right-hand shot in the left corner."

Reckon "the joker" alludes to him feigning a shot before passing?

Glad to see Hoppe finishing the season with a flourish.

I think his finishing is legitimately Bundesliga quality. I don’t know about the rest of his game, or where he might fit in for the national team, but he can score goals when given the opportunity.

Is that the Schalke manager who is first to greet him when he celebrates the goal, or some other staff member?

Schalke hold on, and the Dortmund guys owe Hoppe the beverage of his choice for their help with a Champions League spot.

Hoppe has a legit claim to MOTM, in one half. Really played well today.

I am not sure what the original is but Germans call substitute offensive players Jokers. So he scored a “Jokertor” or a goal scored after coming on as a sub. It’s what we are hoping for Pulisic today.

The ‘joker’ in German is slang for ‘the sub’ in the context of a soccer game.

At this point, we need highlight reel material (almost) as much as we need goals.

A sign of a bad offensive team is when the attackers shoot whenever possible without looking to make the right pass

Please don't make jokes - we need Hoppe to keep Sargent alive.

Damn, Hoppe just missed the final pass after some good work. Could have worked to save Bremen there.

Hoppe played down the left channel, beats a man at the edge of the box but misplays his square ball to Paciência in the box.

I am revising my priors on hoppe and think he has a higher ceiling. He is clearly really smart but faster and stronger than I originally thought

Mustafi seems to let a free kick go which bounces in the box and is finish by Koln's Sebastian Anderson.

The goal is being checked for a collision at the top of the box.
