Matt Wiesenfarth becomes the latest PDL player to earn a professional contract, signing a one-year deal with the Canterbury United FC in the New Zealand top flight. The Burlingame Dragons FC forward will leave next week to begin training for the upcoming ASB Premiership after scoring two goals in nine appearances for the PDL side. http://www.uslpdl.com/news_article/show/693252?referrer_id=2242534 http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/footba...-bolster-canterbury-united-in-national-league His UC Davis bio: http://www.ucdavisaggies.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/matt_wiesenfarth_765784.html He and the other player just signed by Canterbury out of UCD, Kris Schultz, are cousins.
He was called up to one U-20 camp back in April 2012, when he was still at UC Davis: http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...-to-convene-for-training-camp-from-april-9-16
Snip: Canterbury United mainstay Dan Terris is adamant they have the attacking firepower to deliver frequently this season. The Dragons have boosted their stocks up front by adding Englishman Stephen Hoyle from WaiBop United and American striker Matt Wiesenfarth. ... Wiesenfarth, who had a solid college career at University of California, Davis, played for Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes' feeder side, Burlingame Dragons. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/footba...king-duo-to-bring-goals-for-canterbury-united
Matt was PDL POW last week with his old (and current) club, the Dragons of Burlingame. Four goals in a game (against San Francisco City FC in this case) will apparently do that for a guy.
