The reporting is that he's staying with New England at least until the summer.

Happy for him economically. Less then thrilled playing career wise. USMNT really needs some GKs starting consistently at a high level somewhere.

Seems his girlfriend is an NFL cheerleader ... and has a Master's from Harvard (Extension School, which isn't like having an MBA from HBS):

    https://then24.com/2022/02/03/arsen...irlfriend-with-an-mba-revolutionizes-england/

We are talking about an ex cheerleader of the NFL who came to participate in a dance in the Super Bowl but who is not just a pretty face, since he studied and got an MBA (master of business administration) at Harvard University.

It's a bit of a common misunderstanding that a master's of management from the Extension School is the same thing as getting your MBA. When I did a lot of recruiting from MBA programs in the past, I actually saw folks who got their MBAs at lesser known programs in the Boston area lead the education section of their resumes with the 2 courses they took somewhere at Harvard rather than the actual MBA they earned.

Anyway, Matt has done well for himself.

Somehow connected to her on Linkedin, 3rd connection. Definitely have no cheerleading ties. Unfortunately.

This move hasn't been officially announced yet, right?

Since he wasn't going to move until the summer anyway I wonder if they just decided to wait to sign the papers?

I have 7 shared connections which isn't a huge surprise, but no one I really know well.

That's always so weird for me. The same thing happened when Steffen signed with City. Announced like in Dec 2018 but he didn't sign officially til July 2019.

I guess there’s no rush to get a backup keeper in.

They needed to get rid of the current backup too right?

I just don’t really understand why any club spends at all on transfer fees for a backup GK. Doesn’t seem sensible, especially for a club like Arsenal.

Its because they value Turner and probably see him as a viable replacement to their current #1

Props for those who included Baardsen on their GK lists.

I don’t think those top 5 were all starters in the same season, but 4 of them were.

I'm also noticing we've had (mostly backup) keepers at nearly all of the major Premier League clubs now.

We just need a backup GK at Chelsea to round out the big 6.

This is a great point. You'd def think their Academy could furnish several guys worth of being no.2's.

Pretty amazing there's this amount of US history in the PL.

Just sucks that all of our guys now are backup keepers in England now.
