Stopping a bit of thread drift, but no, Turner remains on the bench today, Forest hosting last-place Everton.

The fans are pretty negative toward Matt's replacement right now.

If not Matt returning between the sticks, maybe it's Horvath's turn (3/4 kidding).

I have a feeling Ody and Matt will be taking turns eventually.

I almost came by earlier to say if there was ever a game to get Oly benched it would be losing to Everton today. Didn’t see the game or the goal yet, but that is a bad result for any team hoping to stay up.

Our CONCACAF rival Raul Jimenez helping his compadre outside the region Matt Turner w/ a brace so far against Vlach. This may be the breaking point for our boy's return.

Vlacho is reviving Raul's career. If Matt doesn't get a shot after this, it's personal.

Now a 4th for Fulham. I didn't see it, but it's astonishing how slow Vlach is off his line for the ones I have. That's partially the reason for his shelling.

This should do it for Steve Cooper. Turner will be starting for the next manager. At least until the deadline. Then, knowing Forest, they sign yet another keeper.

    Make that 4 goals.

Looks like Forest were unsatisfied with an average premier league keeper and decided to trade in for a below average one. So many better uses for that transfer fee…

It's not fair to criticize Forest's keeper. They need to stay the course!

I completely agree - very slow to react. On the 4th he was slow to get from one end of the goal to the other - very sluggish - no energy.

Hope Matt gets another run in the next one.

(And to be fair, he's not getting any help from his defense, they are dire. But it's also tough to know how much of that is a lack of organizing from the keeper vs just being terrible.)

    This is glorious.

Shots on goal for Fulham: 6

    Goalkeeper saves for Forest: 1

    5-0.

Sheffield, Luton & Burnley are so trash, they can keep playing Vlacho and not get relegated.

Looks like Forest should sign Ethan Horvath.

    Naah, not these days.

Matt was benched for Ody, but it doesn't look like that's going to work out, so Ody will be benched for a stretch while they work out what's wrong with him and whether - but more likely when - to give him another shot.

At which point he either steps up to the plate or he gets benched permanently prior to being sold at a loss - and Forest get a new coach.

This is all good news but a decent chance they make a move for a third goalkeeper in January.

Did not see this one, but NF have had defensive issues all season and it sometimes won't matter who is in goal. That said, losing 1-0 to Everton and then getting pasted by Fulham is the kind of run you gotta try something if you want to keep your coaching gig. Swapping netminders is the easiest move.

I haven’t seen the last two but Arsenal is also discovering swapping goalies can get messy.

Before this game my fantasy tool rated Vlach a fair bit higher (on average per game) than Matt but now it’s more of a coin flip. One number that sticks out is that Matt’s passing success percentage is a fair bit lower - 64 vs 79%.

Matt leads on goals allowed - 1.5 vs 2.4, recoveries, and his heat map does suggest he may come off his line more. He also is crushing the Greek in the all important xA stat. Matt is expected to assist once in every 45,000 minutes while Vlach has a laughable 0 minutes.

This is critical, I was telling everyone who was listening as well as to those who weren't that his feet skills improved to the point that his new nick name is Big Higuita.

    You need a new tool.

Shot-stopping is more important than anything else by far. Here's their comparative psxg+/-:

    Turner: -.16
    Vlach: -.83

Turner's near tied w/ David Raya. Vlach's being lapped by everyone else. Next lowest is -.38.

Matt's also a superior sweeper keeper to stop shots before they start. And Vlach's not good w/ his feet either. They are more mixed bags. Matt just plays safe more.

That Vlach was better and it's now a coin toss is an indefensible position. The only argument you could even try to make is small sample and stay the course. Though 5 is usually more than enough in fb to say next man up.

    Fans already turned on Ody:

"Turner couldn't catch a break, Vlach can't catch a ball."

"Vlach got his chance because Turner made one cock up. He hasn't taken that chance."

"Needs to bring a hot water bottle on Saturday, to keep him warm on the bench."

"He's conceded more goals than saves, I don't recall a single claim form a corner and he stays rooted on his line more than Pantyman did when he was in goal for Forest."

    Etc.

Feeling fortunate that none of our GKs have the nickname Pantyman.
