Whoever Arsenal is drawn with in the Europa League, they'll be huge favorites to progress. He should play in most of those matches as well.
Arsenal have drawn PSV, Bodo/Glimt, and Zurich. Turner definitely should get at least a few of these matches.
Bodo/Glimt should be fun. They were unbeaten at home in the Conference League last season, with wins over CSKA Sofia, Roma (6-1!), Celtic, and AZ, among others. Arsenal are definitely the clear group favorites and should get 15+ points. Seems like a good set of matches for Turner to get some time.
Yeah, I was joking, I doubt any of the three road games will be easy, but playing Turner should be fine in some/all of these matches - the more the better.

Ramsdale down clutching a hamstring late in today's match. Not coming off yet, but something to keep an eye on.
https://www.arsenal.com/news/arteta-gives-injury-update-ahead-man-utd "Mikel Arteta admits he is still unsure as to whether Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard will be available for this weekend's trip to Manchester United." Potential debut for Turner at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Well with a Thursday - Sunday turnaround and on the heels of the 3-1 loss to Man United, hope to see Matt between the sticks on Thursday vs. FC Zurich. Though if FC Zurich is that weak, and Arteta stays with a strong lineup, Matt might not have a lot to do. Interesting conundrum - you want him to be active (i.e. Zurich to attack) but not so much so that Zurich actually scores.
Arsenal have traveled with a strong team to Zurich. I haven't seen a comment yet that indicates whether Arteta will go with Ramsdale or Turner today. Strong Arsenal squad has flown out to Zurich for tomorrow’s Europa League opener - Partey, Smith Rowe and Cedric didn’t travel due to injury.— Charles Watts (@charles_watts) September 7, 2022
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...a-eager-to-end-arsenals-long-european-drought Says in the article that Turner is likely to get his debut. Hopefully can “graduate” to Yanks Abroad thread then..
This guy was a starter for years in MLS, is/should be the starter for the senior nat'l team, & he's starting for Arsenal in Europa League. And he'll still be located in the Academy forum for most people not to see his updates.
Simple adjustment to the forum split rules should be that anyone with a senior US cap goes straight into the main forum.
At least rename the sections into something that makes more sense if the forum wants to separate league appearances from other competitions. Matt Turner is not an academy player.
I think the rule is any first team competitive appearance counts. So Turner should be out of this forum now; I take it the mods just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Oh, I guess I'm mistaken then. We probably ought to have a stickied thread laying out the rules for this forum in the very first post. I went through the "What's up with this new forum?" thread just now, and noticed that it's only on page 7 of 8 (5 years into the existence of this forum) that dark knight announced the league appearances rule, with a follow up post noting that it had been all competitive appearances before then. And then to add to the confusion, immediately afterward a poster asked if CL and EL appearances would count, and dark knight said they would be fine with that, though I didn't see a definitive resolution to that question.
So being in the MLS doesn't apply? He has already been playing in a first division league so should have been promoted when the transfer was completed. He shouldn't need a debut.
