How much of a paycut? Arguably worth it to prove himself.

Promoted sides, I think, are taken care of. St Pauli is pretty set with a decent Bosnian international, whose name is escaping me. Holstein Kiel led the 2BL with shutouts with 15 or so with Timo Weiner between the sticks. Mainz has Robin Zentner who been there a long time and is often wearing the armband. He’s decent but not great. Probably not looking for a change..Freiburg GK situation isn’t great. They have two younger players on the books and signed a vet from the 2BL. Bochum would have been a good choice but they just signed longtime Bundesliga vet Timo Horn from RB Salzburg. Augsburg signed a newly minted Croatian international to push / compete with their #. Heidenheim’s GK have been there a long long time. Though I forgot this name, too.

The only team that really kinda sticks out to me is actually Weder Bremen. Their #1 last season was Michael Zetterer and if rumors are to be believed, he’s opened up talks with Marseille to replace Pau Looez. Zetterer has been linked with Celtic, Man City, and a few Serie A clubs. Maybe Weder Bremen is the club….

That name made me do a double take.

His salary is going to be a major stumbling block for a BL1 loan move. Even with Forest covering the traditional 50%, 1.1 million euros is a substantial sum for even stable BL1 sides like Mainz, Freiburg or Augsburg , putting him in the top 1/3 of earners at those clubs.

It'd put him in the top 3-4 earners at the newly-promoted sides.

    By some distance

He’s third string now. Sels starting today with Carlos Miguel on the bench. Actually think Miguel takes that job. Turner has to get out of there.

Old folks will remember that Friedel came back to mls for a year. It's not a bad choice compared to third string in EPL

Friedel did that when he was 24, Turner is 30. If Turner comes back, that's it for his journey abroad.

Hopefully the rumor of Bundesliga interest is legit. Heck even if he has to take a loan in Turkey or Belgium, he needs to go for it.

They'll extend due to keeper anxiety.

Keepers age on a different scale. 32 would be a fine age to bring in a keeper like Turner. 32 isn't old at all for a keeper.

Who was the last 32-plus-year-old American goalkeeper to leave MLS for Europe?

Gotta say he's had quite a career to this point. A ton of lucky breaks that he took advantage of and rode to the top. Just hoping we haven't seen the best from him so far.

He has an EU passport so he better be using that to get a starting job somewhere.

Let’s be honest - it’s not the age that’s the issue.

hes going to end up like steffen

taking a transfer to be a backup might make dollars and cents...but doesnt seem to make sense (from an on the field perspective)

You think so? I mean I could see it as he's getting 2.5 million pounds but he'd have to know then he loses the no.1 shirt.

I remember when Brad Guzan turned into a pumpkin at age 30. That was a weird situation.

The silver lining is he's going to be healthy and available for those Nations League games.

It is crazy to think that the most in-form US GKs may be Steffen and Freese. Both have been remarkably good in Leagues Cup. I would love for Freese to get a look. He was hyped up early on in his career but always seemed stuck behind an incumbent... but he has been arguably the best GK in the MLS this season.

The situation is so dire, Berhalter called Sean Johnson to Copa. And we all know how Sean has been looking with Toronto for a year now (when he can play).

I cant imagine a Bundesliga clubs having an interest in a GK with an allergy to the ball at his feet.

Its been a great run for Turner, and he's had a remarkable career, but he's clearly just MLS caliber.

If he wants to actually play, that's where he'll go. If he just wants to collect a check, then he can stay at Forest until the "by mutual consent" tweet occurs.
