He’ll need to stay with NF either as back up or go out on cost sharing loan to keep those wages, imo. Not sure what happens to his wages if NF get relegated.

reports now Chelsea after Murrilo - and supposedly another player(s) + cash offer. NF are asking 50 mill Lbs, apparently. No news on Turner, and with NF only having a few days to "balance" the books, it seems that they aren't worried about Matt at this stage, with all the noise around the bigger $ players. Rumor Lyon are about to do a medical for Niakhate (NF gonna need some CDs if this all happens). Meanwhile, Sels/Turner replacement Miguel either has a recurrent ankle problem or is a faker, depending who you believe... summer is so fun!

NF head to Spain for a summer camp in July (which, having been in Spain in July recently, seems insane, but ok.)

Niakhate is supposedly gone for 26 mill to Lyon (reports are he passed on Crystal Palace and Lille to land in Lyon). There are now conflicting reports on whether this relieves enough pressure that NF can keep Murillo. The Corinthians ankle drama is getting more press today. NF have signed a few youngsters and the other Ligue 1 loan to sale seems to be on...

And Turner appears to continue to be on their books.

Judging by his performance v France, he's massively underpaid.

I’m not sure how they are going to meet PSR given I don’t think they’ll get much of a fee for Vlachodimos.

There is weirdly little reporting around the PSR and Forest, NUFC or others. Very weird.

Since he's a makeweight in the Anderson deal, didn't cost that much (£4.5 million) and is Greece's #1 it's not going to take much lawyering to justify booking his portion of the Anderson transfer fee at €4-5 million.

That won't make much of a positive impression in PSR but it ensures there's no negative impact either and Vlachodomis' major PSR drag was always his £2.3 million a year salary when he very obviously wasn't going to be playing. In any case, selling Minteh to Brighton for £33 million is widely reported to have solved Forest's problems by itself.

Getting Vlachodomis' salary off the books, even if he left on a free, was always Forest's priority. From their FO's perspective, this deal makes it "job done"

I guess we can assume the Murillo and/or Niahkate deals are substantially agreed to and just awaiting players to come to terms and/or physicals, which seems to be ok with the accounts to post it to June 2023.

I hope his agents have something in the pipeline whether he's dropping down to the Championship to start or trying his hand in Germany or France.

Niakhate to Lyone (for 27 mill LBS, I read) has been confirmed. I think that, along with all the players they let go, the Vlach deal etc. will do it. Murillo might be applicable to June 2024 as well. From what I've seen there's some latitude for the accountants if the clubs reach agreement, even if it takes the players a bit longer.

With one keeper out and finances balanced, Turner's an afterthought at this point. He'll move the last week of the wiindow, probs.

As long as he moves, I don't care where. If he's going to be our #1, he needs to be playing.

Onefootball has an article today on NF's transfer. It mentions the "potential" transfer of Matt as well as this tidbit "There are also speculations about Forest potentially signing another goalkeeper to ensure robust options, following the release of Wayne Hennessey this summer." NF are keeper-addicts it appears. In other news it seems like the Chelseaman will stay, as they report CH-O is happy to remain at NF despite other Prem interest.

Did Forest ever sign that Brazilian keeper or did the deal fall through?

He is supposed to still be coming. The deal is reported as done, tho there was some guffuffle about the ankle. The onefootball article I read suggested another keeper on top of Miguel and Sels - while Turner is still on the books... Probably only happens if Turner is dealt, but it's forest so who knows. The keepers of the Keepers.

Forest has earned a bit of a rep as a keeper cemetery. Corinthians fans not very happy to have their giant go there.

Matt turner is 30. He’ll be 33 when that contract runs out. He’ll make more in the next three seasons than he’s made his entire career to date. He’s be a lunatic to walk away from that kind of money on the hopes that he remains the starter the US team.

Not like he has any serious challengers for that job right now either.

Even if someone like Schulte makes a big move, they're not likely to jump into a starting role immediately.

Turner's probably like...the 3rd-most locked in US starter behind Pulisic and Robinson somehow.

Another 3 million sterling or just shy of $3.9 million after tax & agent's fees, to be precise. At a minimum, that's a number of decent residential properties generating a decent-to-good annual income while he establishes a post-playing career.

He should sit tight and see how things develop while MNT games keep him in the shop window (he'll probably remain the USA #1 until January at least). If nothing changes, set up a cut-price move next summer with a pay cut to match and then negotiate a payoff to get his salary off the books.

50% of the balance due is pretty common for those so he could still walk away with $2.6 million in 12 months. It'd be foolish not to at least try it.

Even if it fails, it's hard to see how at least one Championship side or equivalent can't be persuaded to make him #1 on loan in exchange for picking up a share of his salary

Agree with Rover here. He should wait and see what happens and retrench this winter break or next summer. Unless a great offer happens soon.
