the height doesn't help the second part, tbf. Ian Holm only 5'5 in lifts. (Sir Ian Holm, to me... apologies sir.)
Premier League, Eredivisie, Ligue Un, Championship, Belgian Pro-League, La Liga so far He should give the Turkish league a shot next though I'd love to see him in Serie A
Is it wise to encourage that? I mean, has there ever been any doubt about his willingness to grab people by their balls (we have the video evidence) or that he'd bite them in the ass if thought he'd get away with it?
Portugal. You can't go north again. Miazga is the Beerholder of this generation, very good, but not quite good enough - although Beerholder's limiter seemed to be athleticism. MM's seems to be something more intangible. He was able to succeed in the Ered, which requires a decent level of technical skill from its backs, against some veteran Ered competition. France was too short with too many weird variables to make much of. Reading seemed a decent fit much of the time. Not sure what keeps him from being a regular-old somewhat anonymous lower-EPL/upper-Champs work-a-day CB, but he has performed at that level at times. Bet he has banked a few Lbs at this point. Can't be mad about that.
Official and confirmed. Anderlecht part ways with manager Vincent Kompany who leaves the club. 🟣🇧🇪 #AnderlechtKompany’s close to be appointed as new Burnley head choach - while Felice Mazzù is in advanced talks to join Anderlecht. pic.twitter.com/MhtBYmi43f— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 25, 2022
My impression was more that Chelsea wanted too much money for him and that they had a good relationship. Something backed up by his own words here https://www.si.com/soccer/chelsea/n...locked-anderlecht-transfer-before-alaves-loan. Burnley really does seem like a good fit. They need a center back, the level is one he can play at, and a coach who is familiar with him.
Forgotten Chelsea defender has made just two first-team appearances since 2016 signing Chelsea outcast Matt Miazga could be given a new lease of life at Stamford Bridge this summer with Thomas Tuchel having already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-matt-miazga-forgotten-defender-27232425
If the only source is the Daily Star or the Express, then you can dismiss it, entirely. The Sun and the Daily Mail are toe rag propaganda outlets in their political and business coverage but they take their celebrity/gossip coverage seriously, however disgusting and sensational. Ditto for their football coverage. Owned by ex porn baron Richard "Dirty Dick" Desmond, they're run on a shoestring and staffed by the Sun's rejects. Desmond only keeps them on because, if he own a "national newspaper", he's a political player and can advance his other interests. The story may pan out. It's just that if it does, it won't be because the guy who wrote it had good sources.
In theory it could happen, because Abramovich is gone and the new owners are investors who will want profit from their asset, not an expensive trophy. If Tuchel says "I need £50 million for the defence to replace Rudiger and Christensen; £40 million for a starter and £10 million for backup(s)", he's very likely to be told, "here's £35 million. Do good scouting for the starter and mine the loan army for backups." It's just that I can't imagine Tuchel using Miazga over Emerson, Ampadu or even Colwill. He'll have a look at him in pre-season and then make a decision. If he decides he's no use to him, he'll loaned out again until, finally, his contract expires.
What ever happened to that young English central defender that Chelsea fans were convinced should be promoted instead of signing Miazga?
