Didn’t take him long to find a new home despite the long rap sheet. He will join Huracan after the USMNT camp. Huracan finished 4th with a decent collection of players after finishing 24th - narrowly avoiding relegation - the season before. Matko will be join fellow Yank, Alan Sonora. 🚨Matko Miljevic es nuevo refuerzo de Huracán. *️⃣El club le compra el 50% del pase y, una vez que regrese de entrenarse con la selección de Estados Unidos, firmará contrato hasta diciembre de 2027. #TratoHecho pic.twitter.com/GjXqRmpt1Y— César Luis Merlo (@CLMerlo) January 10, 2025

According to the Tweet, Huracan will only get 50% of any transfer fee that they get for him. That's a positive in terms of how he's rated in the league but it's a double-edge sword: clubs are investing more time and effort in him and they want some return on that. Nobody's willing to let him go for nothing any more.
Matko makes what I think is his debut at Huracan, coming on in the 56th minute of a scoreless draw. Wanting to make sure his name is on the scoresheet, gets a yellow in the 92nd minute.

Matko against Uruguayan side Racing CM in the Copa Sudamericana: THREE Assists, MOTM, 9.5 on FotMob, seven chances created, pulled after 73 minutes. Seemed like he enjoyed himself. Dominant 5-0 win and they top their group.
Seems like Matko has enjoyed the move to Huracan. He's been on fire since his move. Really, he's been Huracan's star man. For his sake, I hope it's the right fire and something doesn't ignite an emotional explosion like it has at other clubs. I am intrigued with Matko and if the form continues and the behavior in check I see no reason why he can't be in the running for a Gold Cup spot this summer.

Didn't score on this shot, but did pick up two assists in a 3-1 win and wins MOTM as well. His form is as strong as any time in his career, I think.
It seemed that everyone on these boards was completely dismissive of this player when he appeared for the USMNT this last winter. He showed up and played hard, showed some skill, grabbed the ball for a PK and failed badly. Then he balled out and scored a nice goal. The fact that he’s one of the key players on a good team in Argentina is interesting. I know that he has showed some rebellious character traits, but he’s still young. I would be interested in hearing feedback from people who follow Argentine football and have seen his performances firsthand. Our player pool isn’t exactly glutted with goal dangerous, creative, attacking midfielders. And maybe it’s not so bad for a player to have a chip on his shoulder.

You do have to add in the issues he faced with other teams before he arrived at Huracan. The fake name, assaulting another player, getting frozen out at his 1st club in Argentina & getting released at his last club for conduct all have to make you wonder what makes him tick. The PK incident seemed to be a confirmation of him being a bad actor. This run at Huracan is the 1st time in a while that he's shown himself to be able to contribute consistently.
No doubt. I’m not dismissing that at all. I’m just wondering if this player might just have enough fire in his belly, that he might become strong if he could use it in the right manner. Maybe it’s nothing, but I’d be happy to hear that he might become a real professional football player. He’s clearly got a chip on his shoulder, and cares about his game.
That’s pretty revisionist - he was downright bad through a lot of the January games. He had some moments but the competition wasn’t very good. It was overall a poor showing from him. He was also well below MLS standard while in the league. His success in Argentina suggests more that particular league is relatively weak than he is good. There are plenty of attacking midfielders in the pool who are younger and don’t have a terrible playing record in MLS. There is no reason for Miljevic to see a roster while Luna or Gutierrez are available. Calling him in at all was a mark against Pochettino.
