I fear that re-signing Clint to the max has the potential to become Jaime II. Look at their MLS careers prior to this season and they're pretty much living parallel lives.

In 2000, both were on the top of their game.

Moreno, 25 games played, 12 goals, 7 assists.
Mathis, 29 games played, 16 goals, 14 assists.

In 2001, slippage due to injury.

    Moreno, 24, 9, 6
    Mathis, 10, 7, 5

    In 2002, more slippage.

    Moreno, 16, 3, 4
    Mathis, 14, 4, 2

I would take Clint back in a heartbeat, but I'm not so sure I'd take him for more than 200k. Looking back, we surely could've used 80k more this season, which we'd have had if Moreno wasn't a max guy. I think if Clint signs a new deal with MLS and it's still max, we've got to trade him and get on.

Moreno II? How about Balboa II? Or Ramos IV?

Metro have a long tradition of having at least one max salary player on the bench all year long due to injury.
