There was far too much of faint praise and backhanded remarks in that article... I found it infuriating. I don't know who started this ridiculous trend of ragging on Clintinho.... "capable" of being the best player in the league? In talent terms, he's already the best player in the confederation. Nick Sack-o'-************ and OZ treated him outrageously and Bruce Arena whined about his work ethic before showing that he could let his own standards slip a bit (Cf. strategy for Poland match in WC '02). Leave the guy alone! Give him his due!
Bruce has given him the armband, hasn't he? Clint's got his opportunity. Now it's up to him to capitalize on it.
Maybe so, but I only admit that grudgingly. Don't know if it's enough to make up for all the !@#$% treatment Cletus got.
[rolleyes] PSU, have you even been admitted to Penn State yet? We're on the same side but I get the impression you lie in wait form me and only comment on scatalogical matters that happen to arise (tee hee, get it?). I distinctly remember making a comment about taking "MLS virgins" to see their first match (Metros v. DC, Gus St. Silva officiating, you'll remember) and this earned me a from you. I'm happy to have you for a fellow fan but come on... do up your fly for once!
Same old story told for the 100th time Hasn't Clint been saying these things since October? Is there really anything new to this whole thing? Doesn't seem like it.
All the smack talk was some kind of disturbed movitional attempt by his coachs. I'd say let them all talk. One day Clint will make us all proud and make his critics quiet, have faith.
Mathis will have a gigantic year in leading the New Jersey to the top of the East. He will score 20 goals this season because the money will motivate him.
I have no doubt that you are both right, hope77 and Kasai. I did notice in the article that CM explicitly denied that he would be motived to play well because his contract will be up for renewal at the end of this year. It'd be hard to watch him leave for a foreign club but I'd support him.
