An excellent secondary assist. A strong game overall. The keeper won them the game that they weren't the best.
Mathis #Albert will complete the season preparation entirely with the professionals. For the training start, he will also be part of the squad just like for the test matches against Oberhausen & Düsseldorf. In addition, Albert will be in the BVB squad for the Japan tour. Also to note that, according the news outlet Ruhr Nachrichten. It doesn't seem like he will be with the team right away when they start preseason preparation on Sunday. He will get an extended vacation based on how much he played last season between 3 levels. It appears to me he will join the team right before they go on their Japanese tour.
Looks like some dortmund transfer out will come in few days: duranville, adyemi. THis is good news for Albert for playing time.
Dortmund also have a new sporting director, the guy who took Elversberg from the lower leagues to the Bundesliga in just a couple of years. It will be interesting to see what he can do at a club like BVB and how he builds the squad. There have been some rumors about El Mala, which would be bad news for Albert, but at the moment it seems unlikely that Dortmund would be willing to pay the €50 million asking price.
We need this! Please light it up like someone else did 10years ago, but be less injury prone and less streaky! Too much to ask?
I think this may be actually not good news for him. Dortmund already didn’t have many wingers. With Adeyemi leaving, it would reinforce to Kovač that the team should keep to the current formation that doesn’t play with wingers. Also this is just a personal opinion and not based on any report or anything but I do not get the impression that Kovač actually rates this kid. Based on how I’m seeing things play out.
Some contradictory news. Originally RN said that he would not be present initially with the squad at the beginning of preseason preparation. But he is here. Back to work in Dortmund! 🏋♂️#BVB pic.twitter.com/HWbXAfJ7Ni— BVB Newsblog (@bvbnewsblog) July 12, 2026

Albert came off at halftime. I watched the first half of the game. Dortmunds lineup was about half academy kids and half senior team regulars and Albert looked by far the best of the academies imo
Like how he stayed on his feet when getting knocked around, like at about 1:17 in that clip. We need more Rooney's in the game. Not sure not being a burner is a weakness. I mean, Albert doesn't look slow, per se. He has quick feet and controls the ball well, and gets blocks in also. How fast does a 'burner' have to be? Top speed 33+ kmh? 35+?
Not even sure he is a winger when adult, more like AM. Not Pulisic who eventually moved to the wing, young Reyna who was playing on the right originally for BVB.
