I would seriously like to see the free kick count for and against, not just for this match but for the season.
Unlike against Arsenal I think we deserved to win this particular game - against a very good (if somewhat diving/cheating) team.
I thought we played quite well today. Villa are very strong and fit team. Y'know they beat Liverpool 7-2. They are a decent side. Villa are also quite the bunch of cheats and a sneaky fcuking team on the quiet. I liked some of what I saw in the way we played, a little luck and we could have nicked it. 1-1. not the best result, but a better performance from us. I guess our next game, with Citeh, will most likely be postponed now. Not sure if we need the rest or the momentum.
Reminder to all, there is an ignore function, please feel free to use it. Thought a point was about right but should have taken our chances during that better spell in the second half. An improvement on the arsenal performance but not enough. Frank has to turn this around and the players have to play their part in that.
I thought we played better, but can't say a draw was unfair. For all possession we had, how many times did Villa keeper was actually bothered?
Possession Chelsea 64% Aston Villa 36% Shots Chelsea16 Villa 9 Corners Chelsea 11 Villa 3 We got to do better with the corners.
Can't help but wonder what a difference it would make if we played anyone other than Jorginho. This guys leash is so ********ing long. Worst regular outfield player I've ever seen at the club. Yeah, the Kepa line is completely over-talked about but how the dross that is Jorginho gets away with playing time while Kepa got publicly executed is beyond me. Where the hell is our Scottish Iniesta at? Billy looked like a boss the last time he played.
There have been a few shockers over the years to be fair. Although I have to agree with you that he should be the last on the list of players to be selected.
Player selection aside, I do acknowledge that when this bad run started he was not a starter. That said, it's not surprising that his reintroduction into the team has resulted in nothing positive. Remember how exciting we had started to look when Gilmour came into the team right before COVID ruined everything? I don't believe there is a single answer to any of our woes but man.. you've got to think he has something to offer over the parking cone. CHO was a bright spot these last couple games. You can tell he's got his quickness back. Lots of clever cross field passes. Did a lot with very little service.
I think we had a fair few shots at their goal, it's the old problem of needing far more chances for a goal against our opponents than our opponents need for a goal against us. We had the better of it against a good and very confident Villa team, compared to the sh*t show against Arsenal I think it was certainly a step in the right direction.
