    Half-Time 2-1

'Pool took an early lead...but Desailly on 13 and Gronkjaer on 30 put us in front.

Not a cracker by any means.

Bolton up by 2....so that means.....he he he

    Full time

    Not a great game really.
Liverpoll did nothing to deserve a point let alone win the game.

Qualifiers for the Champs league it is then.

    Spurs thumped at home.
    Hammers go down.

    Great day for the Blues.

Whoo! That's a relief. Very nerve wracking in the first half but the Reds ran out of gas in the second. Now let the speculation begin about next year. We need to keep the core group and bring in some cover. Got to figure Jimmy won't be brought back. Is it just me or was big Frank just dominating out there today? Yea Blues!

What is the format for the first qualifying round? One v one?

We skip the first two qualifying rounds because of the co-efficient the country has and jump into a Home and away two leg encounter in the third and final round.
We will be the seeded team.

Congratulations to Chelsea and their supporters on winning the £15 million game. You guys deserved it much more than we did. Enjoy Champion's League and the transfer kitty.

    Whew!

Thought it would be a nail-biter when Pool went ahead but Dessa's answer calmed me down. As soon as Gronks got by his man and the ball left his foot you knew it was going to curl in from the camera angle - fecking brilliant goal.

Not a great match but we did everything we needed to do to make it happen. Gallas and Desailly were solid at the back today and I don't think anyone played poorly.

The Hammers go down and Everton miss out on a CL spot after Blackburn stuff the Spurs (God that was good to see).

So the EPL representation in Europe next year will be:

CL - Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea

    UEFA - Liverpool, Blackburn, Southampton

Hopefully we'll get a bit of dosh to stengthen the squad some - I would guess that Hasselbaink and Desailly will still be here next year and Zola and Morris will sign new deals and Terry and Gudjohnsen will sign improved deals as well.

Very gracious Pool fans on our board today - I guess I should wish you all good luck next season, as long as it isn't at our expense.

Well i will hold off on wishing the scouse any good will. :)
I think we will have some catching up to do to keep up with them next season as i see them geting some vital additions to their squad, whilst we try to hold onto what we have at the mo.Houllier will be ah...er..."placed" in a different position at the club i'll bet.

Enough with them though. If they had won there would be several on here gloating.

I think any extra money we get will be spent on keeping the core of this young side together in the off season.Also-and this is importent-we haven't actually got to the champs league yet either.God help us if we get dumped on our duff by some scandinavian minnows again, although knowing Chelseas luck in cup draws of late we will pull down the hardest possible tie in the final round.

Gallas and Terry will be offered new deals whilst their existing ones are torn up.
Bates said as much on Chelsea TV several times towards the close of the season. He also said that the just extended extension to Carlton Coles contract would be further extended to keep him here as well.

Can't see jimmy going anywhere to be honest as we can offer champs footie now.Coupled with his -by his standards i hasten to add-sub par season, age, salary and attitude i can't see the big offer coming in that would be needed to take him away.

Gudjohnsen needs to do something in the off season though.Thought he was more out of it today than in it.
Zola may stay for another season-that would be good.

The Toon are going to strengthen their squad also. This coupled with that fact that man Yoo and the Arse already have stronger squads i think we will have to bust a gut to keep up next season just to retain 4th.

We really must qualify for the champs league proper.

Clanblue hit it right on the nose...Chelsea haven't made it to the group stage just yet, and playing minnows is exactly what gets CFC knocked out of Europe.

Having said that though, Ken Bates must be very very happy that Raneiri got them to 4th. Houlier, and Liverpool, really have underperformed this season. Still don't see these two teams challenging Manure and Arsenal for the league title next year.

Nevertheless, i'll rest easy and take a pint tonight (as well as hope Zola sticks around for another year..what a fantastic player)

Congrats to Chelsea. It has been a fun year to be a Chelsea fan. All the ups and downs and a final game with some real meaning that the boys played hard. Can't wait 'till next year!

The game may not have looked that good on the box. But in the gound it was one of the best games I have been too at SB, the atmosphere was fantastic.
