Greece must get some credit. They lost 2 players during the first 15 minutes but ended up playing very well in the 1st half and got their goal. Tried to shut up shop, had to re-adjust and go back on offense and did it successfully. Overall they were the better side. But all ruined cause of another pk controversy.
I hate Greece, always did. But as you can see they are like roaches. They won't die Not to mention the piss poor qualifying groups they always get. For Euro 2016 we are in the same qualifing group We rode their luck... the group is super easy
Watch will an expanded field of 24Romania still doesn't make it lol lose in the playoffs to Iceland....
What a dramatic, and I must say unexpected, turn of events in this group. I have to agree that Greece deserved to win this match, even if their winning goal was off a last second penalty. CIV was disappointing against Greece, with the Greeks having the better chances throughout the game. In fact, other than their goal, CIV barely created a real clear cut chance against Greece, while the Greeks hit the post 3 times and created a few more chances to boot. In the other match, I don't know what happened? When I was watching, Japan was doing alright but Colombia had a counterattack which was stopped by a foul in the box that was almost identical to the penalty that wasn't called against Argentina in their match against Iran. I stopped watching afterwards, but 4:1 is a terrible result for the Asian Champions no matter how you cut and slice it. Anyway, it will up to Iran and S.Korea to gain something for the AFC in this tournament.
I need to go home and watch the replay bc it looked like a legit penalty to me. People are just whining because of the gravity of it and how late it was given.. but if it was 0-0 at the 15 minute marker that penalty looked about as clear-cut as it could get, like the one Japan gave up around the 17th minute. No shenanigans there. Greece, as weird as it sounds deserved it more anyway. Lost 2 guys to injury, another guy missing this match from his discipline last match and hitting the woodwork 3 times. Japan sucks. Shades of '06 but loads of individual talent. And yay for Mondragon on being the oldest player ever at a WC!
Well, didn't see that coming. First team I failed to predict going through. Apparently along with a lot of other people. Who are the six that picked Greece? Anyway congrats Greece and Colombia.
Hey Greeks and Colombians here: BE HUMBLE. It's painful when your team is knocked out in a tournament like this be it group or the next rounds. Imagine if you were in that situation. You would be suffering so be considerate and show respect t despite your joy.
Ivory Coast can only blame themselves, as I said earlier in an other topic; Greece is the living embodiment of opportunism, if you don't take them serious you will regret it. Ivory Coast was all too comfortable and Greece was actually the better side for most of the match. The last bullshit penalty doesn't surprise me the least as these things happen so often with Greece; bullshit penalties, goalies that have a hint of offside, shit goals from seemingly harmless moments. Its in Greece's blood.
