This team is a completely different animal when the guy acting as the engine makes his passes in a split second and keeps things moving. The kind of offensive output Frank has been crying for as well... complete game today, thank God. You love to see it.
For Pedro to come in these last few weeks and make a positive impact speaks well to his character. All of the players on fringes recently, actually: Alonso, Giroud, Pedro. Also: shutout!!
Starts first match, wins MOTM. I'm hoping he becomes established for us. He looks mature out there, but he's also still a teenager.
Well that was enjoyable. Maybe we just scrub the lineup of anyone over 25. Also, who else did Frank play for and how can we get them on the schedule?
He does look great. His movement off the ball. His passing is very crisp. He plays with confidence. But he is still very young and it is generally a position that requires a lot of experience.
Then we need to play him because how we play with him in the squad is night and day different in a good way.
I was really surprised at how flat Everton were in this game. Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin have been deadly the past few months and their defense was inspired last week in their draw (should have been a win) against United. We just totally overran their midfield with essentially a child (Gilmour), a scrub (Barkley), and an exhausted youngster in his first big boy season (Mount). The Man United victory over City was most unwelcome, however. Didn't appreciate that. Fernandes has inspired that team but hopefully Spurs can take something from them next weekend and we deliver against Villa.
Well I got that one wrong. A great display, against a sluggish Everton we looked Sharp in midfield, Gillmore really ups the pace with his passing. I like the new look Kepa, he gets the ball forward and actually caught a cross. Beating the scoucers two times in a week, happy days. The lineup I was referring to was the ref and VAR not the team.
Lampard did a good job of meshing very young players with those past their prime. It's quite remarkable how few players we have who are in their prime. Of the starters only rudiger and maybe zouma fit the bill. Of the rest they are still growing or are in decline (in some cases years past their peak).
