As far as I'm concerned it's really simple: There are not enough good-to-great players on the Atlanta roster. Some can have moments, but no one is a consistently excellent player that we can trust to dictate an aspect of the game. So either Tata and Co. find a way to coach some of these guys up, which thus far doesn't seem likely, or we wait until some roster changes can be made.
And after listening to Doug's podcast from this game, I'm going to assume your name is A***. Otherwise there's another United fan that had the same day as you.
I was thinking about bad teams that I have followed in the past. Usually, you have something to root for outside winning and losing. With Detroit Red Wings during the Dead Things era, you could root for Yzerman to get a goal. Braves during the 80s, Dale Murphy to get a home run. For the Atlanta United, if you tell me we are going to finish in the bottom three of the league. Why do I watch any of the games? Maybe to see if Miranchuk can score. (eh) That's why I would like to see Hibbert in goal. We could root for a 0-0 draws and feel like we have accomplished something.
Yeah, I've emailed him regularly since he was doing podcasts for the AJC. Have yet to meet in person, but perhaps at some future event.
