02' 0-0 #3 Lin Yuping leans across Fulutudilu to head a ball away, #20 Zhang(?) jumps in and heads ball first -- and runs own left temple into Lin's forehead. Stoppage, Lin receives treatment.

03' 0-0 Lin walks into near touch, all resume.

03' 0-0 Gu Yasha crosses from ~arc top box left to 6m center, Swart comes out and catches in front of Li Ying.

06' 0-0 All China, almost entirely in South Africa's 1/3. Gu receives at box mid-left, cross blocked over by Van Wyk.

06' 0-0 Gu left ck, backpass, cross to 3m 1/4 right. Swart comes out into traffic and punches away as she trips backward over somebody.

10' 0-0 China right ck, to 4m 3-right, Wang Shanshan heads high wide right.

10' 0-0 Zhang Rui clears ball to circle top, directly into Biyana's face. Stoppage, Biyana is down, being checked for a head injury.

12' 0-0 Biyana walks into near touch, pressing an ice bag to her face. Drop ball to Makhabane, backpass to Swart, high kick to circle center. China wins it, but lose it over endline right.

13' 0-0 Liu Shanshan left throw-in ... but there's a 2nd ball on the field, she jogs onto field carrying her ball to clear the 2nd ball off :p

20' 0-0 China keep the ball in South Africa's 1/2. South Africa keep missing medium passes, and rarely have any runs for longball tries. China's activity can get the ball to box top, but it's a bit too wild to piece South Africa's equally-active backline. So they're in a bit of a stalemate.

21' 0-0 LB Liu Shanshan whips a cross from arc top wide left to 9m 1/3 right, Wang Shahshan jumps leaning rightward, heads wide right.

22' 0-0 Wu Haiyan overlaps to arc top box right, cross to spot headed away.

23' 0-0 Kgatlana intercepts a weak backpass, toasts Liu Shanshan down box right to 5m, turns back. Weak backpass toward box top mid-right doesn't reach Makhabane(?), cleared by a slide-poke.

24' 0-0 Gu Yasha dribbles unmarked to arc top wide left, floats a cross to Swart in 6-center. It was supposed to outswing, but didn't.

Such a borefest. It doesn't help when this match follows the thriller we had earlier.

27' 0-0 Jane high cross to 2m 2-right, Peng Shimeng catches high.

29' 0-0 Gu crosses from 10m wide left to 4m 2-right, Wang Shanshan jumps but leans away, header blocked wide right.

30' 0-0 China right ck, backpass to Han Peng to box top bid-right, she shoots left instep high over bar.

31' 0-0 Jane passes outside-in to Kgatlana turning past the right flank through arc top box right. Kgatlana outruns 1 to 2m 6-left, shoots right outstep quick flick behind goal. Her speed is fun to watch.

33' 0-0 Gu Yasha receives through box top mid-left, stops ball at 9m box left to shake Ramalepe, does a hard cutback -- and Van Wyk's cleats slip out, she slides down onto back. Gu touches to 10m mid-left, shoots right instep but her plant foot slips a bit, she slices it wide right.

38' 0-0 #7 Wang Shuang chests a loose ball into own stride through arc top mid-right, goes 1-v-2 to 8m mid-right -- can't turn and shoot through Van Wyk's wall, turns away, loses it to Matlou, slide-pokes from behind and gets called for a foul.

40' 0-1 China ping a triangle around arc top wide right, backpass. #20 Zhang Rui serves from 29m box right to 8m 7-right, #10 Li Ying curls past Mbane and flicks left foottop low volley, redirects ball behind Swart into 1/4 left back low.

Ok. We know The VAR has a camera on the goal line showing the posts and the line all aligned.. Why haven’t we seen it?

42' 0-1 Whang Shuang right ck, to Wang Shanshan at 5m 4-right. Leaping bullet header off crossbar bottom 1/5 right, bounces down onto line and back up past crossbar. South Africa clear and drive down wide left, cross blocked? Goalline tech shows: ball was on 1/4 of the goalline (and the rest of the ball was in the goal). In this sport, ball on any part of line means no goal. In volleyball, such a Hawkeye result means: ball squished onto the line, it's in :p +2'.

63' 0-1 Seoposenwe square pass right to Biyana at 27m 1/3 right, one-touch shot swerves to 1/4 right, Peng Shimeng catches face-high.

67' 0-1 Seoposenwe overlaps past Biyana to box top wide left, turns back. South Africa run dry of ideas, four backpasses all the way back to Swart. Off Swart's kick, Kgatlana is offside.

68' 0-1 Matlou longball, but Kgatlana was standing offside. China are crafty, their backline know where she is.

    70' 0-1 Wang Shanshan shoots from 18m mid-left, high over left 90.

71' 0-1 Lou Jiahui receives a pass over her shoulder through 24m mid-right, down to 3m mid-right and back to 6-top right. Her last touch leaks away, Matlou pokes into near touch.

72' 0-1 South Africa subs in (2 of 3) #17 Leandra Smeda for #23 Sibulele Holweni.

76' 0-1 Ramalepe(?) long cross from 30m wide right to Kgatlana at arc left. Kgatlana tries to shoot right instep bend, but left foot slips, she slices her shot wide right into #13 Wang Yan's left chest/shoulder (with both arms tucked behind body). No call, play on.

78' 0-1 China subs in (2 of 3) #12 Yao Wei for LF #10 Li Ying.
81' 0-1 China subs in (3 of 3) #9 Yang Li for #13 Wang Yan.
82' 0-1 South Africa subs in (3 of 3) #10 Linda Motlalo for #15 Refiloe Jane.

84' 0-1 Wang Shuang fk at 26m box right, bounces at 7m box left and under a dive-header try, over endline left.

85' 0-1 Wang Shuang left ck, to 5m right post. #6 Han Peng heads down just inside right post 1/4 high, Swart dives and pushes it wide right.

Is it just me or is this just a lackluster game...seeing how both of these teams played in their previous matches with drive and want to seeming like they just dont care anymore after getting a defeat...idk...maybe its just me lol

90' 0-1 China pass down wide right to Liu Jiahui at arc top wide right, she bends a ground cross through 15m center for Yang Li onside behind the ball. Yang touches to 7m 6-left, shoots across mouth, Swart dives at 3m right post and pushes ball due leftward, South Africa clear. +4'.

90+3' (of +4') 0-1 China send ball to 6-box, it bounces high to 3m left post, Swart catches high.

90+4' (of +4') 0-1 China keep possession with their frenetic passing, South Africa don't have the energy to run in lanes or catch up to their own long balls.

FT 0-1. South Africa 5(1)-(3)17 shots(sog), 3-7 corners, 2-2 offsides, 47% possession, 65% (270-413) - (277/421) 66% passing. South Africa killed too many of their own possessions with a bad pass, and couldn't sustain build-ups all the way to the end of the field.

    FT: 0-1.

One goal is enough for China.

Calculus is pretty straightforward for China now. No way Germany loses to RSA, so they top the group.

China beats Spain and they finish second. A draw and they're third, but 4 points in a tournament where four third-place finishers advance is probably good enough.

FIFA official Highlights of the game; looks like Chinese players didn't lose their habit of missing clear-cut chances from 1st game, but this time it didn't come back haunting them :coffee::
